“Can’t stress enough how great Ashley and her husband were at looking after our two German shorthairs! They kept us well informed with updates and lots of picture and went to lengths to make sure the dogs were comfortable and happy.”

“Meghan was awesome, she took great care of my dog and kept me updated throughout the stay, she's also a great photographer so you'd get nice shots of your pets, a 100% recommended.”

“Maytte is a gem! We have two very shy dogs and weren’t sure how they would do staying with a new person. They loved her and warmed up to her at the meet and greet we set up. It made going away much easier. Maytte sent updates every day, with pictures and videos of the dogs. We could tell they were loved and well cared for. Maytte went above and beyond, buying them each a harness for walks and new toys. We’ve already booked her for our next trip.”

“Suanny and her family were very nice. My 8 month old miniature golden doodle seemed to have a good time. Took an about 5-10 seconds to register that we were her original family when we came to get her. She now demands lots of belly rubs after coming back so I’m assuming she was getting a lot of that there. Gracias por cuidar de mi bebé. ❤️”

“This was the best Rover experience for me! Susan made sure my dog is safe and feels comfortable. My dog easily gets nervous with strangers, but she got used to the new environment faster than normal. I felt like Susan is really good with handling dogs too because she has great amount of experience with dogs. I really appreciate her updates, photos, and all the accommodations she has made for us. Thank you!!😊”

“Georgianne was a great sitter. She posted picks regularly and gave me updates on how my cat was doing. She also responded very quickly whenever I messaged her. I would definitely leave my cat with Georgianne again.”

“11/10. My dog had such a great time with Jose, it’s like she’s the one who had a vacation! Jose is extremely good about communicating and sending pictures, and it was a really nice experience to receive updates throughout my dog’s stay without needing to prompt for them. My dog had ample space to get her energy out, and with an additional bonus of having an active sitter to do activities with, there was never a doubt that she was receiving anything less than the care I’d provide her at home. I recommend Jose to anyone looking for a reliable sitter, a comfortable stay for their pet(s), and peace of mind—my dog is certainly looking forward to another stay!”

“Margaret was Sooo amazing! Last minute bookingand a new to being boarded kitty. It was great I got to learn how my kitty would respond in such a healthy environment.”

“We feel quite fortunate to have met Chelsea and Sam. They took wonderful care of Maizy and made sure to send us daily updates to let us know how well she was doing. Our dog is small and she had a great time playing with their 2 small dogs. Thank you so much!!”

“Kaylan and her husband were amazing while our dog Lily visited with them over the last week. I got daily updates and pictures of Lily that were heartfelt and cute❤️ Lily was well cared for no doubt I couldn't recommend Kaylan more! She did daily walks and let Lily snuggle at night in their bed. We couldn't have asked for a more loving home for our fur baby while we were gone.”
“Booked last minute and was very accommodating. I needed a day sitter for my 2 labs and received pictures/ updates thought the day. My dogs had a great day and were well cared for. Would definitely recommend and book again in the future.”

“Ginnie and I communicated almost every day about how the dogs were doing. When I arrived to pick them up, they appeared very calm and well cared for. I would definitely recommend Ginnie.”

“Andrew and his wife took excellent care of our dog over the weekend. It was his first time staying with them, so they sent me several updates and photos to let me know how he was doing. When we picked him up, they sent me home with a handwritten note, dog treats, and a new chew toy. A very thoughtful finishing touch!”

“Excellent, thanks for your professional approach. You took the time to gain insight into my dog's personality and provided a safe, and enriched stay. Looking forward to more bookings.”

“Definitely a 10/10 rating for Amanda. We had her taking care of our girls for a day, she did it so great and professional and she also provides pink-up & drop-off services. We will book with her again next time!”

About: I am from a very rural town so I've been around animals all my life. Growing up we had 2 cats and a large dog that were primarily my responsibility as my siblings are much younger than me. I worked at an office that had 2 dogs and MANY foster cats amd kittens that I helped take of. I have also pet sit my friend's large dog whenever she goes away for the weekend or for a vacation. I have previous experience here on Rover caring for an elderly large breed dog with limited mobility. I have also taken a veterinary science course and am very comfortable having to administer medications or treatments that are needed. I'm currently working part time in Binghamton. I'm in town Sunday-Wednesday every week and am willing to be flexible on the weekends. I work in an office downtown near Court St Mondays and Tuesdays 9-5 with an hour break where I can do checkins or short walks. I can also adjust the schedule slightly if needed. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays I am typically out of town, but that's not always the case. I'm always open to talk through my schedule on a case by case basis! I'm very open to instruction. I think owners know their pets and their routine best, so just let me know how you want the visit to look and I will make it happen!

“Debbie and her family were absolutely wonderful and I'm so happy they were able to watch over our pups! Not only did she take them in last minute, she sent daily photos and always kept me updated on how they were doing. Debbie & family, thank you again for being so kind to my girls! We will definitely be giving you a call the next time we have to go out of town! :) -Amanda & Brian ”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their DeRuyter home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your DeRuyter.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your DeRuyter sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
