“Where to begin? Marta took on two dogs that have only been watched by our family since we brought them home six years ago. This was a new experience for all of us and she treated them as if they were her own dogs. She made it her mission to know everything about the dogs that she could and asked to meet them before she took care of them. She allowed the dogs to get to know her on their terms and they loved her from the very beginning. I saw pictures and videos of things she was doing with them that is nothing short of a miracle, these two had major separation anxiety and they felt at home with her. She is patient, kind, her empathy never ending. She is an exceptional professional and we will certainly miss her since it was a destination wedding for which she helped us out.”

About: I have owned and cared for all sorts of animals professionally my entire life. While pursuing my Bachelor's degree I continued to work with animals and study animal welfare and behaviour. I take great pride in my attentive nature and promised to go above and beyond for your pet! For the past 5 years I have specialized in senior and special needs care, ensuring that medication and therapeutic schedules are maintained while the animal's main caregiver is away. Above all, I love all animals and want to make sure that your pet is as happy as can be! I am also available to provide training and/or continue training plans for your pets so they never skip a beat! I ride and train horses professionally so I am home all day and all my pets have an active play area outside while my hands are full with the horses. Your pet will enjoy a "farm feel" house sit where their days are filled with hands on walking and hands-free play. All the pets sleep inside and are welcome to sit on the couch while we wind down with an episode of TV or two! I have a fenced yard with grass and dirt for your pet to play in. I also am comfortable with special needs cases that need to be inside or that are unable to play off leash.

About: Animals are wonderful beings! They have a way of reminding us to slow down, be present and get outside. Having been without pets for quite a number of years, I am missing their presence in my life. I grew up with poodles, springer spaniels and terriers. I had two cats of my own (Ruth and Monica) and loved them dearly. I'm considering a move to a quieter (and more rural) part of Vancouver Island and am looking to explore some of the areas outside of Victoria and house/pet sitting is a great way to get a feel for other communities. I'm also interested in exploring areas of the BC interior. I'm a devoted, reliable, dedicated animal lover and I take pride in doing any project to the best of my ability. I have a care-giver background, having worked in dental health and as a yoga teacher for many years. I have lots of experience with landscaping and I love to garden. I love building connections with people & animals. I am 'trauma-informed' and am familiar with 'Force Free' training principles. I'm comfortable with older pets and giving some meds as needed also. I've recently received a refresher with chicken coop care --gathering eggs, cleaning and maintaining the coop as well. Let's touch base with a phone call first to get a sense of each other. From there, if the 'fit' feels good--I'm happy to meet up in person on Vancouver Island. Alternatively, we can meet on video to get a feel for each other also. Looking forward to caring for your precious animal friends. I'm working on some entrepreneurial and writing projects (WFM) so I'm happy to take pups out in the morning and evening for walks, and longer hikes on the weekend too! I love to hike and explore rural and forested areas. Exercise is an essential part of each of my days and I'm happy to continue the exercise routines that you have in place for your pets :). Breaks for 'play' time are great for pets and for humans too! As a detail oriented person with a healthcare background, I understand the importance of providing the highest level of care to your pets. All of my airbnb references are 5 star, as I believe in the importance of leaving a place better than you found it. I've got fantastic personal references also. I'm registered with THS and House Sitters Canada. I've got a recent police check also. I'm more than happy to meet and review things in detail over zoom or meet up in person on Vancouver Island. I'm happy to provide consistent, reliable and loving care with your detailed guidance and instructions.
