“Dakota was amazing with my three pups and even managed to keep on still long enough to tahe a pic. I cant even explain how much I appreciate Dakota for caring for my pups. From a last minute request to a lifesaver. Dakota kept me updated on my pups daily and it made me feel like I didn't miss a beat”

“I’m so thankful that Kathleen watched my pups while I was gone for an extended weekend. It was my first time using Rover and having someone stay overnight. Not only did Kathleen make the dogs feel at ease, she also made me feel at ease! She did a great job, checked in with me, and took special care of my senior pup. I highly recommend her.”

About: Hi! I’m Kaylee! I’m an animal lover who has more than plenty experience caring for dogs and other pets. I love bonding with animals through playtime, cuddles, and filling their bellies. It’s always my top priority to make sure they feel comfortable and loved while their owners are away. Whether it’s dog sitting, drop-in visits, feeding, walks, or playtime, I’ll treat your pets with the same care and attention I’d give my own. I’m excited to provide dependable and loving care for your furry family members! I am the go-to pet sitter for my family and friends. Always reliable and available on short notice! i am free anytime of the week, and weekends, i have a lot of time for your fur babies and i can guarantee their safety, im very alert and conscientious of my surroundings. i have a fenced yard and a pool and lounging area out back of my yard, but i’d rather watch your fur babies at your home.
About: I have watched over many of my friends and families pets. The dogs I have watched in the past have been moderately large, and could be a bit wild at times but I was able to keep hold of the situation. I have also accompanied my family and friends when they had taken care of pets for other families. I had helped train a very wild pup for a friend, as well as a basic command which was sit. I absolutely love animals and even went to a program in high school for them. I am currently free during most times of the week. I am currently attending HCC, my classes being on Monday and Wednesday and do not stretch late into the day. I am very available to watch your pups or kitties! I can come during the mornings or evenings during the week depending on the day. I am also available to house sit. I care for them by learning their needs and wants first in their home. I understand every animal is unique and needs to be cared for in a way that works for them. I listen to the owner to ensure that everything will be safe and cared for in their absence.
“Jennifer has been an absolute blessing! She is always on time, communicates exceptionally well, and keeps me updated with pictures and messages while I’m away. She is reliable, trustworthy, and genuinely cares about my dogs. My dogs are not the easiest to care for, so finding someone they are comfortable with has always been a challenge. Jennifer has been incredibly patient with them, and they do so well in her care. Knowing they’re happy, safe, and loved gives me complete peace of mind every time I leave. She has truly become my go-to pet sitter, and I can’t recommend her enough. If you’re looking for someone who will treat your pets like family, Jennifer is the one!”

“Damien is SUCH a fabulous human. The extraordinary care he gave towards my fur babies warmed my heart. He went out of his way to text me pictures and updates on how things were going. I absolutely plan on hiring him again! Thanks! Sarah”

“Morgan saved our family vacation!! Our original pet sitter cancelled on us 3 days before we were set to leave for a week-long trip. Morgan responded to my late night booking request within minutes of submitting it and was willing to pet sit for us on such short notice. The meet & greet went great and she was so sweet with our large/giant breed dogs and our ancient cat. Throughout our week away, there was excellent communication and lots of pictures, with updates on how everyone was doing. Our giant boy doesn’t usually eat well when we’re away, but he ate just fine with Morgan! We came home to a clean house, happy and well cared for animals, and we couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out! We would absolutely rebook Morgan again for future trips and highly recommend her services!”

“Stephanie was amazing! She cared for our dog, Ruckus, for 3 days. Ruckus is a senior, special needs dog who requires a lot of medical support, supervision, assistance, and attention. I was concerned about leaving him in the care of someone and was uncertain we'd find someone to give him all the same attention he receives at home, but Stephanie put our minds at ease. She took incredible care of him, sent us regular pictures and updates, and followed all of the (extensive) instructions we left for her. Stephanie is trustworthy, kind, reliable, patient, and knowledgeable. Her passion and love for animals shows in her work, and I would highly recommend her to anyone I know. I will certainly be using Stephanie's services in the future!”

“Allison was amazing with our pittie mix rescue who was a stray for 2 years and can be anxious and skittish. She immediately loved Allison (more so than she even loves us, I was joking with my husband) and even went to sleep while Allison was watching her which is unheard of for our dog. Highly recommend, Allison is truly a dog whisperer!”

“Lindsay did a great job watching my dogs in my house while we were traveling. She checked in dauly with updates of the dogs. Took my more active dog to her house while she worked for more enriched supervision and also kept my older dog happy and on routine. I look forward to working with her again when we travel.”

“Sarah was fantastic! I was very at ease that I had to be away for 9 days and know that my Griz was well cared for with her staying in my home. 10/10 recommend Sarah for your pet sitting needs!”

I love dogs of all sizes big and small. I current work in a school so a lot do my time lined up with the school calendars! I would have the most time during weekends to spend with your pets. I am flexible but prefer to care for your pets at your home where they are most comfortable! I would love to take them for drives to different parks or walking areas as well!
About: Hi! My name is MaKenzi and I have had pets as long as I can remember, I grew up with two pitbulls rescues, two smaller dogs, and an older cat that I assumed most of the care for as both parents worked full time jobs. Taking care of multiple animals at one time requires a lot of energy and the ability to organize the things they need well but I learned very quickly! Since I have lived on my own I have helped friends and coworkers with taking care of their beloved fur babies while they’re on vacation or just need an extra hand with their pets. In the last year I have rescued my own kitten and I have absolutely spoiled her with all of the patience, love, affection, and extra care that her heart could desire.
“Eden took great care of our two dogs while we were away! We felt so comfortable knowing that she was here with them and she really did a great job. We loved receiving pictures of our pups each day and they really had a great time playing and hanging out with Eden!”

“Trisha took excellent care of my very timid & shy cat, Stella, as well as my house. She sent twice daily updates along with pictures. My girl seemed very content & chill upon my return. Would definitely recommend!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 1,576 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Darlington. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Darlington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Darlington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Darlington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Darlington. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
