“Shannon has been watching our dogs for years. My current hound dog is a high energy, social gal and she receives fantastic care from Shannon. We tell our dog she is going to summer camp when we drop her off because I know she has a blast and makes lots of friends. I feel so lucky to have such an awesome caretaker for my pup. Highly recommend Shannon!”

“Emily is amazing! She has been taking care of my 10-year-old German Shepherd, Delta, for years, and I couldn’t ask for anyone better. Every time Delta comes home, she is happy, tired, and clearly had a great time! Emily is an excellent communicator, incredibly dependable, and just an all-around top-notch person. I have complete peace of mind knowing Delta is in her care. I highly recommend Emily to anyone looking for someone they can truly trust with their pets!”

“I would definitely recommend Samantha! She was very nice, quick to respond, and was flexible with my drop off and pick up times. This was only the second time boarding my 11 month old puppy. I can tell he was taken care of and had a blast with lots of play time from the frequent photo updates and given the amount of time he slept after picking him up. Thank you Samantha!”

“Sydney took great care of of our dog for a weekend. Maple had a great time playing with Sydney's dogs and got plenty of exercise in the back yard. Would definitely have Sydney dog sit again.”

“We stayed on a trip much longer than normal and knew once again Sam would be taken well taken care of. She loves her adventures on the farm and we feel so relieved leaving her in the care of Liz always. Until our next trip…thank you for taking such good care of our girl!”

“Katie is my go to trusted dog sitter, she has taken awesome care of my 2yr old lab for the last two years. She has been a life saver with putting our minds at ease that our lab is being well cared for while on vacation. Thanks Katie!!”

“Amari was very accommodating for a last minute booking, kept me updated with lots of pictures and reassured me that my dog was doing great! Would definitely book with her again in the future.”

“Richard could not have been nicer and my dogs seem to have enjoyed their stay! I was worried about my 15 month old English bulldog pouting the entire time, but Richard won her over. The location is wonderfully located high above the daily humdrum. If your pets are used to country living, they will thoroughly enjoy a stay here! I highly recommend and will be using for future needs.”

“Our Benson had a great time. Kim did a great job helping him get over his anxiety and he is a better pup now after his stay with her. I will definitely be booking again.🐶❤️”

“Susan and Ken gave our dog the best care that he has received from any sitter in the Roanoke/Blacksburg area, including in-home sitters. We received lots of updates during the care period and our dog was returned happy and tired. We will definitely look to these folks for our boarding needs in the future.”

“Our lab Siggi had such a great stay! They went on plenty of adventures together and Kurt treated her like family while we were away. He sent lots of photos showing her having a good time. We will definitely have Siggi stay with him again!”

“We LOVE marah!!! She is SO helpful and accommodating, always lets us drop off our poodles at any time. I even forgot to confirm the boarding this time and let her know we were about to leave to drop them off and there was no reservation! She said no problem and accepted it and we were there in ten minutes with our dogs! She sends pics every day and we never worry when our dogs are in her care. This is like the 4th time we’ve used her (we rarely go anywhere 😂) and we know she is our go-to sitter from now on!”

“We’ve used Nancy a few times for boarding our golden retriever pup and she is fantastic! We love her bubbly and welcoming personality. We’ve always felt like our pup has been in great hands with exceptional care. Highly recommend!!!”

“David Is calm and caring and took great care of Watson. I don’t often leave Watson but when I do he usually comes home unnerved. That was not the case this time. Thank you!”
“Abigail went above and beyond in her care for our Lola! I think Lola enjoyed her visit very much, as it felt like Lola was missing Abigail and Cleo the day we brought her home. 🙂 Thank you for such great care!”

About: I've owned and taken care of all kinds of dogs, cats, and other animals from a very young age. Ive pet sat for many neighbors and relatives since I was 10, where I was responsible for feeding, walking, bathing, giving medicine, etc. I have great experience with dogs that are anxious, nervous, or shy, as my rescue dog and many pets i’ve looked after are like this. I also have experience giving pets medicine or any other special care they may need in their time with me. Most importantly, I love animals more than anything and I can promise a caring and safe home for your pet!! I’m a student at virginia tech with a very open class scheduel! I have 1-2 short classes a day where im gone for only an hour. Other than those classes, Im free all week and on the weekends to make sure your pet has constant care! I live in an apartment with an enclosed dog park less than a minute walk away, and along with that, my apartment is safe, secure, and kept very clean making it a great environment for any pet. When walking the dog, I prioritize safety with keeping the dog close to me at all times.
About: I have 3 dogs at home in CLT, NC. All of my friends say I treat them like my babies. I miss them so much when I am at school and would love to give your puppy some snuggles while you are away! I have 1 class a day so I will be gone max 2 hours and I LOVEEE walks so they will be walked at least 2 miles everyday if able! I can easily crate your dog if preferred. I live in an apartment but live super close to grassy areas for when they need to use the restroom. I have 3 other roommate's who all have dogs at home and one of us is usually always home!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Centennial home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Centennial.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Centennial sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in WV ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
