Melissa and family took such good care of Cali. I'm a nervous dog mom but Melissa was so competent and experienced that my worries were put to rest from the start. I was able to have a very good day knowing Cali was being well taken care of. Thanks again, Melissa. Till next time.

We found Kelly last minute on Rover, and what a gift that turned out to be. From the moment we met her and her husband, we felt Brakus was in the best hands. Their home is warm and welcoming, and their care for dogs is truly exceptional. They took Brakus on long walks, loved on him like he was their own, and kept in touch throughout the day with thoughtful updates and photos. When we picked him up, he was calm, happy, and clearly adored—and honestly, our 9-year-old even said he wished he could have stayed with Kelly and her husband too! It’s rare to find people this kind, responsive, and genuinely passionate about dogs. We feel so lucky to have found them, and Brakus will absolutely be visiting again. Thank you both for treating him like family! I can’t tell you how good and safe we felt about leaving him with you today. 5 stars isn’t near enough! Thank you

Kelly is amazing. She made us feel so comfortable leaving Mysti and Roger with her. We were never worried that our kids would be taken care of. We received numerous updates of their activities. Should we come back to Sault Saint Marie I hope she will be available to care for them. Thanks

Angelo did a great job taking care of Pepper. He played ball with him and walked him a few times and feed him his favourite treat… carrots. We felt very comfortable leaving him. We had a good day on the train and even got to go for dinner afterwards as Pepper was well taken care of. Angelo also sent a few pictures throughout the day

The BEST! Our puppy had so much fun hanging out here for the day and meeting a new dog friend, while we did the Agawa Canyon train tour. Wish we could take Stephanie back to Toronto with us to watch our dog every time we go away.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Doggy Day Care in Sault Ste. Marie on Rover is $33.3 per day (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Doggy Day Care easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Doggy Day Care. For more information on service fees, click here .

Many sitters respond to requests in under an hour. Whether you are planning ahead for public holidays, need last-minute care, or same-day coverage for an urgent trip, you can message multiple sitters at once.

Once you find the right match, you can arrange a Meet & Greet to ensure they are a perfect fit for your pet’s personality before confirming.

Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:

  • Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
  • Your dog's leash and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
  • Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
  • Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
  • Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalized care possible

Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Sault Ste. Marie commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in ON ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
