“Hayley did a perfect and professional job checking on my cats while I was gone for a few days. Followed all of my instructions perfectly and will definitely book with her again! Thank you Hayley”

“Cassidy is absolutely amazing. She took on a few bookings from me last minute and my dogs have been so well taken care of, and I know they’re really excited when she gets here! She is reliable, punctual, friendly, and follows care instructions. I couldn’t ask for more!”

About: I have worked in pet stores since I was 16 years old well into my 30’s. I have cared for and owned a wide variety of animals; dogs, cats, birds, rodents, snakes and lizards. I often joke that I love working with animals more than people. Your pets will be well cared for. I am currently working full time, but am available evenings, weekends and days off. I can visit before work after work even stay over night when I’m working my regular job I have a fenced in back yard as well as a dog and a cat but would prefer to do visits in your house at this time.
“Josie took excellent care of my cat while I was out of town for 7 days. My cat takes many different supplements and can be a bit stand offish with new sitters. Josie followed all my instructions and was in contact with me throughout her visits. I had installed two indoor cameras to watch my cat and used them to converse with Josie while I was away, I could see she really tried to get my cat to play and interact with her, even if my cat wasn't super interested in playing. I would recommend Josie to sit your fur babies and I'll be hiring her services again in future. Thanks Josie for caring for my baby! ?”

“Paige did a great job of taking care of our dog and cat over the holidays. She provided updates and photos during every visit. I will definitely book her again and would highly recommend if you are looking for a pet sitter or dog walker.”

“Stephanie did a wonderful job checking up on Gregorie and making sure she was well. She was also kind enough to come a few days early to get a set of keys before we left for the weekend. Would definitely recommend Stephanie to check up on any pets!”

“Ashley is reliable, always on time, flexible, friendly and trustworthy. She was excellent with my pup and gave great care during an important stage of development. I would highly recommend her, a five star choice if you need care for your pet. I'll be requesting her in the future for sure.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Sault Ste. Marie
Fantastic cat sitter! Savannah visited weekly to manage feeding, water, and litter. She always sent pictures and was even kind enough to handle an extra request while we were traveling. Professional, accommodating, and great with communication. I will definitely recommend her to anyone in need of pet care!

My dog Chase was all happy in the pictures I was sent throughout the day. Kelly did an amazing job and I was getting feedback about her from my neighbors who said my dog looked really happy 😊. Will definitely be using Kelly's service again in the future next time I have to work a full day out of town.

Stephanie did a wonderful job checking in on my cat! My cat warmed up to her pretty fast and Stephanie sent lots of updates and pictures while I was away. I had no concerns leaving him with her and will definitely be reaching out again when I’m out of town next.

You can coordinate how much supervision you want directly with your sitter. While every sitter’s schedule varies, here are some examples of supervision by pet care service:
- Boarding or doggy day care: Many sitters can provide frequent companionship because they design their day specifically around the pets in their care or work from home.
- House sitting: Your sitter generally stays in your home for the requested duration, which may include overnight care. They may step out briefly to visit other pet clients, but your home remains their primary base.
- Drop-in visits or dog walking: These can be scheduled in 30- or 60-minute windows (and can be shorter or longer at your request) to help your pet receive dedicated attention and care during those specific times.
Interested in constant or 24/7 care? This service often incurs an additional fee but many sitters are happy to discuss this option with you.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sault Ste. Marie choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace.
