Dominique was great to work with- she was extremely responsive and kept in continual contact leading up to the sit. She arrived when expected...and immediately my pets took to her! She is a true animal-lover and magnet...my 2 rescue cats will hide a couple of days until they get used to new people and they prefer quiet, calm energy. That very afternoon, Dominique sent me a photo of a cat snoozing on her chest!! I loved all the photos! She kept the dogs active with many walks! It was satisfying to be away and know my fur-babies were well looked after! I will not hesitate to book Dominique in the future!

About: I believe the best care starts with understanding your pet’s unique routine, personality, and training. That’s why I like to go on a few walks with you and your furry friend before sitting, so I can get a feel for how you connect. My goal is to keep things consistent and stress-free, while making sure your pet feels loved, safe, and understood. I prioritize quality time — whether that means long walks, play sessions, or just quiet company — so your pet gets not only reliable care, but also a trusted companion. Caring for animals is something I naturally build my days around. I enjoy starting and ending the day with walks, play, or quiet cuddle time, and I make sure feeding and care routines stay on schedule. Since I prioritize quality time, I set aside space in my day for enrichment — whether that’s a walk, interactive play, or just being present for companionship. My routine is flexible enough to adapt to your pet’s needs, so they get consistent attention without disruption to what they’re used to. I love caring for pets in their own home because it keeps them happy, relaxed, and surrounded by what’s familiar. Sticking to their routine makes everything feel normal while you’re away, and I’m there to give them extra love and attention. I also treat your home with the same care and respect I give your pets, leaving things just as you like them.

About: I grew up with animals and have always loved having them around - I am an empathetic person who is very sensitive to animals needs. They bring great joy into our lives and I believe in return we owe them the best care possible. I work from home with a very flexible schedule, so I can work around your animals needs, give them as much exercise as needed, and be with them so they don't feel as stressed out being separated from you. I have an "adventure mobile" I am not afraid to get dirty and love taking dogs out for hikes and river adventures if they are up for that.

About: Having spent my whole life around dogs, from German Shepherds to Yorkshire Terriers, Working dogs to pets I feel I have a great understanding of how to interact with a vast variety of breeds, even the particularly headstrong ones! Working previously in an environment that required me to learn a lot about nutrition, training, general health and collar and harness fitting I feel I was able to develop skills in pet management and learn how to create and nurture bonds with new pet friends. Getting to know pet owners that were brand new to the life that having a dog allows right through to those that had been doing it for years and just wanted a little advice was also super beneficial in learning how to adapt different methods that would work for both owner and pet to create the happiest of environments. With regards to my own experience in pet care I have learnt how to administer medication for diabetes and other ailments whether that be through injectable’s or oral medication and am comfortable in ensuring this is done correctly and on time. Working late afternoon shift work, I have the majority of my mornings free along with a couple of set days and would love to spend this time engaging with different animals and providing a service for anyone who might need it! I am very comfortable around both small and large breeds of dog and am happy to follow instructions on how you would best like them to be cared for within your home whether that be specific restrictions around the home or set meal/ medication times.

FAQs for House Sitting - Golden

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Golden on Rover is $62.72 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of June 2026, there are 13 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Golden. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Golden maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Golden walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Golden choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
