“Dawn did a great job with my two girls. She was willing to have two meet and greets before staying with them for a couple of nights and both dogs were extremely comfortable with her when I left them. Lots of updates provided while Dawn was with them, and could tell the dogs were happy and looked after. I was extremely pleased and have already booked Dawn again!”

“Courtney was wonderful with our golden and our cat. She kept us updated and sent lots of pictures which put us at ease while we were away from them. I highly recommend her if you need a great pet sitter.”

Wouldn’t hesitate to book her again!”

About: I am an active 23 year old animal lover! I have 10+ years of experience as I have grown up with dogs, and I have dog sat for many family, friends, and strangers. I live in an apartment right by a trail and my apartment has a grassy area outside of the building. I have previous work experience at a dog shelter, have dog sat as I was travelling, and worked at a farm with many dogs. I am a generous individual that can provide your pet with comfort, warmth, and what they need. I will be sure to help your pet in any way needed and make your dog feel welcome in my home environment. I can provide you with pictures and daily updates if you would appreciate . I am currently not working, so I have open availability. I love being active and staying outdoors, I go on plenty of walks and would love a companion. I also love to chill if that is what your pet needs! I live in a dog friendly apartment right by a trail, the apartment also has grass out front- which makes potty trips very feasible. I would offer a comfortable and safe environment for your pet.
“Taylor watched our dogs, Rogue & Luna, over a few days. We received regular updates and pictures, and she was very responsive to messages. When we returned home, they were very happy and content. Thank you for the excellent care!”

About: I have been providing in your own home pet care, full time, for the past 8 years. I have a lot of experience administering medication, whether it be orally or by injection. They say you won’t work a day if you’re doing something that you love… I haven’t worked in 8 years! My love of animals goes back as far as I can remember. I am so grateful that my clients trust me with their pets. I love and treat them the same as I do my own. I love all animals, but will admit I have a soft spot for the gray muzzles. Pet sitting is my full time job. I can usually accommodate any special requests that you might have. I would be available different times of the day if your pet requires medication. I will move right into your home while you travel. I will come and go the same as you would. I keep your pets routine as close to normal as possible. If they sleep in bed with you, they sleep in bed with me!

“This is my first time trusting anyone other than family to look after my dogs and I'm so glad I chose Kelsey to do so! She took such good care of my two dogs and also of my apartment. About: I’m a lifelong dog owner that absolutely loves animals, and gets so much joy from being around them. I have raised dogs from puppies into their senior years, and also have significant experience with brachycephalic dogs. I’ve owned Frenchies, a Boston and a Boxer, so I’m incredibly familiar with the additional care these breeds might require. From eye drops to ear drops to pills to medicated baths, you can trust that I’ll take care of your pup as if they were my own. My boy, Wilbur, passed away last year and while I’m not ready to get another pet, I’d love to take care of yours. I do work full time with a required in-office presence, so I leave home around 6:30 am and return by 3:30 pm. I’m generally more of a homebody - my evenings and weekends are spent reading, watching tv, going for walks, and enjoying the occasional trip to the beach. Since I am a relatively quiet person, I take pride in creating an environment that is calm and comforting. While being in someone’s home I think it is critical to respect that I’m in someone else’s space, and maintain routines that your pet is used to. I want to ensure that their life is disrupted as little as possible.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fredericton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fredericton walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fredericton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
