“Jiaru is very responsible annd kind and we felt very comfortable leaving our dog in her care. Our house was spotless when we got home and our dog was happy. We won’t hesitate to ask her to help us again.”

“Hayley was an incredible sitter for our two pups! It's a balancing act to care for a 5-year old dog and 4-month old puppy at the same time, and she was patient, kind, responsible, and communicative. We had a car issue on the way home and Haley was super flexible and understanding about that as well. She made us feel really comfortable and confident about leaving our girls in her care. We'll definitely be having her back soon! :)”

“Malu was great with our anxious girl! She kept me updated and was quick at answering. We were worried about leaving her with someone she didn't know but our dog warmed up to her quick!”

“Cindy is fantastic! From the moment I met her I could tell how much she cares about animals. My puppy loved her, and it was so nice knowing Cindy had everything handled when I was gone. She’s professional, friendly, and great with pets. I’ll be booking her again!”

“Megan was an excellent sitter for our two kitties. She took very good care of our home and our fur babies. She did a pre visit to meet them and our house was super clean when we got home. Thank you ?”

“Lydia did a wonderful job of taking care of Archie and our home. Archie is a little shy but warmed right up to her. She took him for lots of walks, even in the rain. I’d highly recommend Lydia. We were able to relax and enjoy our weekend as we felt very comfortable leaving Archie in her care.”

“My husband and I love to travel. A big factor in the last 2 years (in addition to the pandemic) that prevented us from traveling as much as we wanted was that we now live far away from our families who would pet sit our cats usually. So when we had our recent trip to Spain, it was so crucial for us to find a pet and house sitter that we trusted with our 3 cat babies. Jessa was absolutely amazing with the care of our 3 babies. Nothing is more indicative of how great Jessa is with cats than the behavior of our middle cat, Trinity. Trinity is truly a scaredy cat and takes months or even years to trust anyone that isn't my husband or I. We've had friends who would come over to our house for years and they only see her in her hiding spots. But when Jessa was pet and house sitting, Trinity came out when Jessa was present within the first week! She even let Jessa approach her and sniffed her in the second week and would eat out in public with her siblings. It goes to show how sweet and gentle Jessa is with cats to have Trinity trust her so quickly. In addition, Jessa took excellent care of our house. We found our permanent pet and house sitter in PEI! Thank you!”

About: I have many years of hands-on experience caring for dogs and cats of different breeds, ages, and temperaments. I currently work as a veterinary assistant, so I’m comfortable with administering medications, recognizing signs of illness, and providing special care for senior pets or animals with medical needs. I treat every pet as if they were my own, focusing on safety, comfort, and routine. I’m available on Saturdays and Sundays, and on weekdays my spouse is home to help. About: I’ve cared for dogs, cats, and other pets since I was 10. Friends, family, and neighbors have relied on me to walk, feed, train, and comfort pets of all types. I’m calm, patient, and great with animals that need a little extra emotional care. I’m familiar with dogs of different sizes and temperaments, and I’m a quick learner—whether it’s a new breed, species, or special routine, I’ll adapt fast and care with love. I’m currently on summer break and have a completely flexible schedule. I’m available most days and evenings for pet care, and I’m using this time to do something I genuinely love. If I wasn’t broke, I’d honestly still do this for the joy it brings me—because spending time with animals is one of the most healing and fulfilling things in my life. I currently offer drop-ins, walks, and house sitting, and I also welcome calm cats for short-term boarding in my bedroom. It’s a quiet, clean space where I can give full attention and comfort. As much as I love dogs, I don’t have the space to board them right now. I always follow care instructions, keep things hygienic, and make sure your pet feels safe, relaxed, and loved.
“Rachel was amazing. My first time leaving Rexy with a babysitter but she was incredible with communication and reassuring me. She organized a meet and greet first so he and I both felt comfortable. She was always prompt and kept me updated with photos. Would absolutely book her again and plan to anytime I need a sitter. Thanks Rachel!”

“From our advance meeting, Isabelle showed how her love of animals would ensure good care for my GSD. He connected instantly with her and boosted that feeling of comfort for me. She provided photos daily as well as video, which assured me that he was being well treated.”

“Krista was so wonderful! She was attentive and went out of her way to keep my home clean while I was gone. She is very knowledgeable when it comes to cat care and common veterinary conditions as well and I would certainly hire her again!”

I can’t recommend Haley highly enough! This was the first time I’d ever left my two-year-old dog for five nights, so I was incredibly anxious about being away from him for that long. Haley put my mind completely at ease. She was reliable, incredibly responsive, and sent me so many updates and photos throughout my trip, which meant the world to me. It was obvious how much she genuinely cared for my dog, and by the time I got home, it was clear he absolutely adored her. She also left my home spotless and truly went above and beyond in every way. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, kind, and genuinely passionate about animals, I would recommend Haley without hesitation. I’ll definitely be booking with her again!

Kina was wonderful staying at our house with our 1 year old dog - and only just 1, so a big puppy still! Our pup is a big breed with some separation anxiety - and this was her first time without us home. Kina was great at keeping her company and keeping her calm. She was great with walks, feeding, treats, and yard play. And we also appreciated the communication and photo updates - we’d highly recommend!

Jane took excellent care of my 2-year-old Border-Aussie Bernie while staying overnight for three nights. I felt completely confident leaving him in her hands while I was away. She provided consistent updates and photos, which I really appreciated, and it was clear he was well cared for and happy. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and attentive dog sitter!

Rachel was amazing. She made sure our girls were comfortable with her before she looked after them for the week and provided updates while we were away. We have not seen them so comfortable with someone else! I would highly recommend Rachel with her incredible knowledge on animals and respect for your home.

Anna was awesome 💯 She kept in touch regularly and was very proactive with taking care of any unusual behavior or issues. My dog is unpredictable and reactive and she took it all in stride. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was ok while I was on a 7 day vacation. I highly recommend Anna for taking care of your fur babies. She was great 👍.

Rachel was a great sitter for our pup. She took great care of him and was very communicative. She asked questions when she needed clarification and was here when she said she would be. The house was left very tidy and well taken care of. We will definitely reach out to her the next time we leave home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Charlottetown maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Charlottetown walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Charlottetown choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
