It was love at first sight for 10 year-old Nicole when her grandma gave her an adorable black puppy with a cute little bow. And for four years, Nicole and Chloe were the best of friends. The rambunctious puppy was a perfect companion for an only child.

When Nicole was 14, a job change forced her family to part with Chloe. As a child, Nicole had no say in the unfortunate circumstances, and was heartbroken.
So happy together
“As the years went on, I always thought about her. I once called the humane society to try to find out what happened to her, but they couldn’t tell me anything. So, I never knew.” Nicole told The Dodo.
Nicole’s family was ready for some senior dog love
Fast forward eight years, and Nicole is married with a beautiful baby. The family was ready to add an older, experienced dog to their crew. A timely Facebook listing for a small senior dog in search of a forever home caught Nicole’s eye; she had to meet the scruffy little lady with the familiar expression.
Reunited (and it feels so good)
From the second Nicole saw Chloe, it was love and kisses all over the place. While Nicole thought the dog seemed familiar, she didn’t immediately recognize her childhood best friend, but Chloe knew her from the word go.
Never letting go
Following up on her hunch, Nicole had Chloe’s microchip scanned, and ran the number with Chloe’s old veterinarian. It was a match! I
They’ll never be parted again.
