The Wisconsin Humane Society discovered a literal treasure trove of a fundraising opportunity this week when their offer to provide a questionably executed pet portrait in exchange for a $15 donation was so overwhelmingly successful they had to shut it down after less than a day.
The Humane society earned $12,000 (that’s 800 drawings!) and closed submissions to give the artists time to fulfill all the requests. The group hopes to rerun the fundraiser, next time with more volunteer artists to keep up with demand!
“It’s time to put the ‘fun’ back in fundraising… if you donate $15 to the animals at WHS, we’ll draw your pet. The catch? We’re a whole lot better at caring for animals than we are at drawing them ?”
We love the drawings so, so much. You can see all the illustrations in the comments on Facebook in the post above, but here are a couple of our very favorites.
You can follow the Wisconsin Humane Society on Facebook to see when their next drawing fundraiser begins, or drop by their website to donate, find out about volunteer opportunities, and see available pets for adoption.
