When spending time in Oceanside it’s essential to take your pup to the best dog beaches around! Though there aren’t a ton of options in the area, we’ve found a wonderful park that you and your dog will have fun exploring.
Want to give your dog the chance to feel the warm sand between his paws? Even though Oceanside is (sadly) another California town that doesn’t give our furry friends many beach-perusing options, you can make the trip to San Onofre State Beach (Old Hwy 101 San Clemente, CA 92672) to get your Vitamin E fix. Just a little over 20 minutes away, San Onofre has a lot to offer, and is actually the site of an ancient sacred California Indian village called Panhe, belonging to the Acjachemen people over 8,000 years ago.
Sun-loving pups are allowed on leash, but there are very specific rules if you want to bring your furry friend with you. Dogs are allowed on a maximum six-foot leash at the Bluffs Beach area of this park, on beaches number one and six. Be sure to pack in and out anything you’re going to need (food, water, doggie bags) because the trash cans are only at the trailhead. And remember to wear good shoes since the way down can be a bit steep, and dangerous with an overly excited dog! Beautiful and boasting incredible history, San Onofre makes for an exceptional beach day with your favorite dog.
Not enough time to exercise your dog properly while you’re in Oceanside? Not to worry, we have trained, enthusiastic local dog walkers at your fingertips! They’ll be happy to take your pet for a stroll and give you peace of mind while you enjoy your vacation.
