When spending time in Myrtle Beach, it’s important to know the best dog beaches to visit that will give your canine a chance to cool off. It can be difficult to find beaches that will allow dogs (especially during tourist season), but we have rounded up some local gems that you and your dog will adore.
3 Best Dog-Friendly Beaches in Myrtle Beach
- Myrtle Beach State Park
- Myrtle Beach
- Huntington Beach State Park
1. Myrtle Beach State Park
3301 S Kings Hwy
Myrtle Beach, SC 29577
- Beautiful sandy beaches to walk along
- Leashed dogs are perfectly fine to take on trails and in most outdoor areas
- The same rules apply for the beach – from May 1 through Labor Day, you can bring your leashed dogs to the beach before 10 a.m. and after 5 p.m.
- Does your dog really need to get off leash for a run? Luckily the Barc Parc is not too far away, so pop over there to get rid of extra energy
- Even with all of the rules, this is a super pet-friendly (and friendly in general) location
2. Myrtle Beach
8th Ave N & N Ocean Blvd.
Myrtle Beach, SC, US 29577
- From May 1 through Labor Day, you can bring your dogs to the beach before 10 a.m. and after 5 p.m. – just make sure to keep them on-leash
- During the rest of the year (not high tourist season), your dog is welcome on the beach any time of day
- Leashes can be a maximum of 7 feet long, so leave the super long ones at home
- Don’t forget to pick up after your pup, and pack your own poop bags
- Very pet-friendly locals and tourists
3. Huntington Beach State Park
16148 Ocean Hwy
Murrells Inlet, SC 29576
- Peaceful, picturesque views
- Leashed pups are welcome year-round
- Stick to the south end of the beach – the north end prohibits pets
- Not overly crowded with people and pets!
- The camp areas are pet-friendly as well, so stick around awhile
