A customer asked Elon Musk if he could create a ‘Dog Mode’ for the Tesla, with air conditioning and music to keep pooches cool while Mom or Dad run into the store. And the answer was a resounding yes.
Not four months later, an upgrade is trickling out to every Tesla 3 on the road right now. And Tesla owners are eagerly awaiting the chance to try the features out.
Introducing Dog Mode: set a cabin temperature to keep your dog comfortable while letting passersby know they don’t need to worry pic.twitter.com/xFU6MGZT53

When leaving the car, the driver simply presses a fan button and is prompted to set the temperature and music choice for a dog to enjoy. A large message on the dashboard lets passersby know that passenger dogs are okay, so no one will be tempted to break a window while you’re dropping off your dry cleaning.

Dog Mode is a customization of an existing feature that monitors the internal temperature of the car at all times. Elon Musk adds, “this is in addition to existing Cabin Overheat Protection, which comes on automatically at high temps to ensure any babies or pets in the car are safe.”
