If you grew up watching the Peanuts holiday specials and loving dogs, chances are, you have a soft spot in your heart for that special moment in ‘It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown’ where Snoopy climbs aboard his trusty doghouse for a rousing game of make-believe air combat against his mortal enemy, the dreaded Red Baron.
Just the phrase “Here’s the WWI flying ace, climbing into the cockpit of his Sopwith Camel” might be enough to get you on the edge of your seat!
For RC plane enthusiast Otto Dieffenbach, that nostalgia came flooding back hard and fast when the trailer for the 3D Peanuts movie came out in 2015.
Here’s Snoopy
Of course, unlike most of us, Otto’s nostalgia turned into something truly amazing — a one-of-a-kind three-dimensional Snoopy and trusty doghouse, powered by a quadcopter engine and built out of ultralight foam.
The Sopwith Camel IRL
Otto calls the custom projects his company Fly Guy Promotions creates ‘Identified Flying Objects,’ and his custom Snoopy joins an elite cadre of cool flyables, including witches, celebrities, and even R2D2.
