Truth be told, your little kitten will sleep just about anywhere, cuddling in the folds of your nicest quilt or sprawling on your hardwood floor in the sunlight. Adorable! But it’s a good idea to train your little furball to sleep in their own kitten bed—a place that is safe for them and easy to clean for you. We’ve put together this list of cute, comfy, and durable beds. Plus we have a few tips for getting your kitten to recognize and use their own bed (instead of your favorite sweater).

Bedtime for Kittens

Cats sleep 15–20 hours a day. This may seem hard to believe when your kitten is racing around the house at top speed in the middle of the night. But they don’t sleep the way we do—they definitely “cat nap.” Not only can they go from zero to 80 in a flash, but they can also go from racing around to nodding off just as quickly. In fact, one of the best ways to get your kitten to try out their new bed is to give them a good workout with a toy and then follow with a cuddle session in the bed. Other training techniques, such as treats, will also encourage your little friend to hang out in their bed.

The Best Kitten Bed

As with cat food and cat toys, the best cat bed is the one your kitten likes to use. Be prepared to try two or three types to see which one your kitten prefers for their serious napping. Our list includes “cave-style” hideaways for shy kittens, bolster beds you can place on the floor or on a couch, and soft, cozy mats you can spread out anywhere, including high in a cat tree. Many of the beds come in multiple sizes. If you have the room, go for a larger one so your kitten can keep the bed as they grow. If you have multiple kittens, you’ll definitely want a larger size because most kittens just love to sleep together and snuggle.

The small size of this trendy “eyelash” bed is ideal for young kittens to snuggle into. In smoky gray, silver, or sand, it will go beautifully with most home decor. The faux fur holds up well to machine washing—this is one of the top-rated kitten beds around.

Aspen Pet Self-Warming Bolster Bed

A self-warming bed is a great way to keep your kitten cozy in the winter months. A liner similar to a space blanket for camping is inside the bed, which reflects your cat’s warmth. The plush fleece lining traps that heat to create a warm nest. The small (19 inch) version of this corduroy bed will fit kittens and most cats. It’s machine washable.
