They’re in our homes, our parks, our hearts—and recently, pugs have been popping up everywhere online. Are those irresistible smushed up faces hiding a secret plan to take over just the internet or possibly the entire world?
Exhibit A: Puglet Kickstarter campaign
“What a piece of work is Pug! How noble in reason! How infinite in wrinkles! In form and moving how express and admirable! In action how like a snoring angel! In gaseous emission how like a god! The beauty of the world, the paragon of animals!”
– Shakespeare Hamlet Puglet Act II, Sc II
Kevin Broccoli’s Puglet Kickstarter campaign is raising funds to produce the first stage production of Hamlet using an all pug cast.
Pledge rewards start with tickets to the production, include a chance to meet and play with the cast members, and feature the ultimate reward: a walk-on role as the only human among pugs!
The campaign runs until August 6th and has raised $1,222 towards its goal of $5,000 in pledges to put on the play.

See what I mean? Clearly the pugs are trying to prove they’re a step ahead of the genetically evolved Apes of our not-too-distant future, right?
“I can’t help thinking that somewhere in the universe there has to be something better than man. Has to be.”
