SEATTLE – March 1, 2016 – Rover.com, the nation’s largest network of pet sitters and dog walkers, recently added John Lapham as general counsel. Lapham, former senior vice president and general counsel at Getty Images, is managing all legal, regulatory and business affairs for Rover. Lapham is also responsible for counseling the company’s management team, managing Rover’s business development work and overseeing the human resources team.
“Rover grew exponentially in 2015, adding thousands of sitters and dog walkers to our network and expanding our team by more than 65 percent. We’re confident John’s addition will further accelerate our strategic growth,” said Aaron Easterly, Rover’s CEO. “John epitomizes our values and brings critical capabilities to our executive leadership. His expertise in technology and business partnerships along with his background in government regulations will be essential as Rover continues to be a trailblazer for safe, personalized pet care in the sharing economy.”
Lapham joins Rover with more than 20 years of legal experience and a strong background in government relations and advocacy at the city, state and international level. Lapham previously managed the global legal team for Getty Images, the world’s leader in visual communications, where he developed major partnerships with Pinterest, Microsoft and other leading technology companies.
“I am honored and energized to join the team at Rover, a pioneer in the growing sharing economy,” said Lapham. “At Getty Images I helped lead the business through a time of significant growth and expansion, and Rover is experiencing that same incredible momentum—relying on heart, service, ingenuity and technology to connect dog owners with their qualified neighbor down the street.”
Lapham previously worked as the vice president of business and legal affairs at Bootleg Networks and as an attorney at Garvey, Schubert & Barer. He received his law degree from the University of Washington School of Law. Lapham is a board member for Polaris, a global leader in anti-trafficking initiatives, and previously served on the board of the Seattle ArtsFund.
