Jett, a five-year-old Border Collie, is a literal lifesaver.
As an avalanche dog at Whitefish Mountain Resort in Montana, Jett has trained for four years to find and rescue anyone buried in the snow. Using his powerful sense of smell, Jett can search an acre of snow for survivors in 20-40 minutes—it would take 20 people four hours to search the same area.
In this video, hear Lloyd Morsett, Whitefish’s snow safety coordinator, explain why Jett is such a unique and critical part of the search and rescue team, and why he considers Jett to be part of his family.
We applaud Jett and Lloyd for their incredible work. Their relationship just goes to show how the bond between a dog and his owner can be life-changing—and maybe even life-saving.
