A greyhound with a broken leg won the hearts of millions when she led rescuers on a two mile search for her puppies. Liane Powell found the dog malnourished and limping in an open air market. A vet visit revealed she had recently delivered puppies, but no one had seen them. Quickly finding the fragile newborns became an urgent mission.
Vera leads rescuers to newborn puppies
As soon as Vera’s broken leg was cast, a team set out to find the missing babies. Vera was put on a long leash, and Liane followed the limping but determined Vera for two miles through the city. At last, Vera brought her rescuers to an abandoned car. On the back seat were ten puppies.

Liane and the rescuers caught the search and heartwarming reunion on video.
Thanks to Ibizan Hound Rescue, Vera and her pups are comfortable and happy. The family is safe in a foster home with plenty of food and love, with a waiting list of adopters.
