There are a lot of fresh dog foods on the market. While your dog probably has strong opinions about their meals, it may be hard to differentiate between the many high-quality brands that all promote whole-food ingredients and freshly made, quality-controlled recipes.
Evermore is a small (four-person, to be exact) company that promises a personal touch that’s hard to beat. Owners Hanna Mandelbaum and Alison Blumberg will offer free nutritional consultations for your dog and take the qualifier “human-grade” quite literally: they ate Evermore food for one meal daily for an entire month to prove their point.
Rover test pups reviewed Evermore dog food to see if it’s also “dog-grade.”
About Evermore’s Fresh Dog Food
Our selection of Evermore fresh dog food for review included chicken, beef, and lamb recipes; there’s also a turkey recipe. The texture is a pate variation with some of the cooked food juices in the mix when you open up a package. The supporting ingredients in each of the recipes consist of recognizable foods like eggs, apples, squash, and carrots. The lamb and turkey recipes are grain-free.
Whether it’s the extra little bit of juices or the specific composition of these recipes, our food-loving dog, Pepper, went wild for them. For her 40 pounds, one 1-pound package equalled her daily portion of two meals.
Advantages of Evermore’s hands-on fresh food approach
Evermore is co-owned by Hanna Mandelbaum and Alison Blumberg—who really stand by their “human-grade” labeling. They ate Evermore’s dog food for one meal a day for a month, livestreaming the meals so folks could watch it happen. The company is one of the oldest in this category of cooked human-grade dog food, established in 2009.
In addition, here are some other standout features of Evermore:
-
Chicken, beef, and turkey are domestically sourced; lamb is from New Zealand
-
Supporting ingredients are domestically sourced as well
- Over 80% digestible food
-
Every batch is lab tested for nutrition and food safety
- Non-protein ingredients are consistent between recipes so you get variety without much gut disruption
- Free personalized nutritional consults for your dog

Evermore Dog Food Recommendation
If you’re reviewing fresh dog food options, Evermore is a top contender based on our testing. As we’ve detailed in other reviews, our test pup, Pepper, is very food-motivated to begin with. However, Evermore had her jumping in anticipation of her next meal (literally—we swear she’s part kangaroo).
But like other fresh foods, it’s harder to love the cost, especially if you’re comparing this to a dry kibble-based diet, which is what Pepper usually eats. And Evermore’s pricing stands a little bit higher than some of the other fresh frozen options out there.
But if you’re already in the market for fresher foods that are closer to home-cooked than traditional dog food, Evermore stands out in sourcing transparency as well as remaining a small company with big results, among the first in the gently-cooked dog food space.
Who would like Evermore:
- Pet parents who like a personal approach to their fresh dog food choices
- Dogs who have reasons, such as allergies, to do well on single-source protein
- Pet parents who like full sourcing transparency
- Pet parents who want to use fresh whole food as a topper or mixer with their pup’s favorite kibble
- Pet parents who like whole food ingredients like veggies and eggs to support the main protein
Who might not love Evermore:
- Pet parents aiming to keep a dog’s food budget to a healthy minimum
- Those who free feed or whose schedules can’t accommodate wet/fresh feeding
- Dogs who need prescription diets or other specific nutrient restrictions
