Puzzle toys are great for keeping your dog mentally stimulated. Whether your dog is home alone, needs some playtime, or is with you at work, puzzle toys can be fun, rewarding challenge.
But how do you choose the right fit for you dog? We tried out some of the latest and greatest in dog puzzle toys to help you decide. Our office dogs were happy to play along. Here are some of our favorites:
The Odin Dog Treat Puzzle Toy
What we like:
- The soft, rubber-like material keeps hardwoods and furniture from getting scratched.
- You can connect two or more together to change the way it rolls and bounces.
- You can add a variety of treat sizes to change the challenge.
This toy is great for dogs of all ages and sizes.
Starmark Treat Ringer Orb Dog Toy
What we like:
- This toy is made from hard plastic that stands up well to chewers.
- The rings must be chewed off to be removed, which can take some time.
- You can buy replacement rings once the original pieces have been chewed off.
This toy might be especially useful for dogs with poor eyesight who are unable to see when the treats fall out of traditional toys.
Lord Anson™ Mullet Head Interactive Dog Toy
What we like:
- The design is really fun; we may have enjoyed it as much as the dogs!
- It has two differently shaped openings for large and small treats.
- It’s made from durable, non-toxic rubber.
- It’s also a fun toy to play fetch with.
Business in the front, party in the back, indeed.
Lord Anson Snack Puzzle Ball
What we like:
- The rubber is strong but soft.
- This toy is a bit more flexible, so getting treats out isn’t as tough as others.
- It has a great bounce and knocks treats loose.
This toy would be a particularly good choice for senior dogs, or dogs who might get easily frustrated by more challenging toys.
West Paw Zogoflex Qwizl Interactive Toy
What we like:
- This toy can fit a variety of treats in different shapes.
- It comes in different sizes for small and large dogs.
- This toy makes for a long-lasting play time. Our office dogs were busy for hours.
- It’s dishwasher safe!
- Made in the U.S.A.
Tough construction makes it especially good for power chewers.
West Paw Zogoflex Toppl Interactive Toy
What we like:
- This toy traps treats in its ridges. Dogs have to work to knock them loose.
- You can interlock the small and large sizes to make it even more challenging.
- The rubber is strong and it’s dishwasher safe.
- Made in the U.S.A.
This toy is more challenging than some of the others, especially if you use treats that don’t easily dislodge.
