Dark days and depressingly cold winter nights make us desperate for the advent of spring, and this anticipation is shared by our four-legged friends. Spring often means more time outside, or at least more fun outside. Dogs strain against the unrelenting leash of winter, desperate to smell and explore the wonders of springtime. When they do, we love to watch them frolic.
Whether you’re seeing sunny days yet or still staring out the window with hope in your heart, we thawed out a collection of our favorite dogs in spring to whet collective appetites for the fun we’ll be having together with our best buddies!
The Arrival of Spring
Wondering if winter will ever be over? That’s probably what our dogs are dreaming about.
Finally they wake up from that dream…to discover warm sun shining through the window. Winter is over! It’s time to go outside! Who can resist those pleading eyes?
Even if your dog isn’t this visually demonstrative, this is what’s going on inside!
Time to Rediscover
The overwhelming seasonal colors and smells produce a kind of euphoria. Where to begin? The possibilities seem endless…
This dog is, quite literally, testing the springs.
You’ve trained them well, to look and not touch…but maybe it’s time to test the boundaries? Perhaps your canine companion has learned that delicate touch?
Dog Sunbathing
There may be myriad springtime distractions, but the major attraction is that golden sunshine on their furry hide.
Grass may be normative, but some dogs love the warm gravel. It’s like sunbathing and a hot rock massage all in one!
Time’s up! There’s a time for sunbathing, and a time to get back to frolicking.
The Rub-Down
Of course, in between frolicking and dog sunbathing is a happy medium: a good rub in the warm spring grass.
Of course, excessive rubbing can lead to rolling, and sometimes it’s hard to determine your dog’s intention…
Throw a ball into the mix, and sometimes spring just offers too many options. Am I lying around? Rubbing? Rolling? Playing? Can’t decide…
The Roll-Around
Rolling around in that new cut grass provides endless enjoyment. Having a leash on might be a good idea too, despite fears of getting tangled…
…because off the leash, your dog’s excitement might be bigger and longer than the lawn!
Maybe rolling is a lot like swimming; put safety first and roll with a buddy.
Of course, sometimes you just can’t stop the full-on frolic. We’re not even sure what this dog is playing with, but it’s March Madness at it’s very best.
The Spring Social
Springtime is also a great season to let your best friend make some new friends.
If their friends are a lot smaller, however, they need to watch all that rolling around!
Dog lovers know that when it comes to spring cuteness, Easter bunnies need not apply.
After That First Spring Day…
Your dog will be exhausted from all that fun, and need a refreshing spring sprinkler drink!
Treat your furry companion well on that first day of spring, and they’re sure to be thankful.
