If Your Dog is in Your Wedding, This is the One Thing You Can’t Forget

Bonding with Your Dog

Let’s be honest: most of us are way, way closer to our dogs than we are to that one cousin of ours. Which is why we’re swapping out distant relatives (sorry!) for our furriest friends when it comes to one of the biggest days of our lives — our wedding. Yep, dogs are bearing rings (bold!), dropping petals, even heeling at their owners’ side at the alter — all in celebration of *love.*

It’s all pretty awesome, but having your dog in your wedding can get stressful. How? Well, when you’re the one in charge of your dog on your big day. Imagine cleaning up dog poop in your finery, for one thing. With that in mind, here’s the one thing you can’t forget on your wedding day: a dog sitter.

Guardian of the No Poop Zone

We were serious about the poop. Your dog is going to have to go, and there is no way that white wedding dress is going anywhere near it. A dedicated dog sitter will take your dog for regular breaks and take care of cleaning up the damage.

Manager of Abundant Energy

Some dogs, especially puppies, are naturally hardwired to have an abundance of energy at pretty much any given moment. But when tens — even hundreds! — of brand new humans are around? Watch out. Even the more typically laid back dogs will likely have a burst of some sort of adrenaline (maybe fear, maybe excitement) on the big day, so having someone around to keep that in check — and on a leash — is best. Also, remember, not every guest will be a dog lover, so jumps and kisses may not always be welcome.

Keeper of the Schedule

We know it’s your wedding day and all, but your morning was probably business as usual, with the brushing of teeth and washing of face and eating of breakfast. Same goes for your dog, who’s on a tight schedule, too. If your dog gets a twice-daily walk, he still needs it — even if you’re otherwise occupied! A dog sitter will make sure your BFF gets that everyday exercise, regular meals, etc.

Calmer of Spirits

Perhaps more important than any of the aforementioned reasons? Just knowing your dog is happy and in good hands, so you can relax and party the night away with your closest friends and family. When your dog is taken care of, you are taken care of — and that’s a beautiful thing.
