When Jaxton Betschart decided to use his allowance to sponsor two dogs at the Charleston Animal Society, he created a tidal wave of sponsorships and adoptions at the shelter.
This beautiful photo of Jax was posted to the CAS Facebook page. As it made the rounds online, sponsors and adopters came out of the woodwork, eager to help and home dogs in need.
Jax and Tank: “He’s big and chunky like me!”
Jax is a four year-old dog lover with a heart of gold. After saving up his allowance for a big splurge, he went to the Charleston Animal Society with his mom to pick out some harder-to-adopt dogs to sponsor.
His family has four rescue dogs of their own, and Jax wanted to take home a pit bull to love. Unfortunately, as a military family, they couldn’t adopt a bully breed while living in military housing and moving from base to base, where rules can change.
Jax and Penelope: She has the best spots
After meeting a beautiful gray pit named Tank and a sweet, spotted pittie named Penelope, Jaxon’s heart was set on becoming their guardian angel.
By donating a dog’s adoption fee, guardian angels help hard-to-place dogs get on the fast track to a loving forever home. The adoption fee at CAS covers the cost of spay or neuter surgery, microchip, necessary vaccines, and heart worm treatment. With these costs covered, an approved new family can spend the money they saved on adoption on training, medical care, and other needs.
To become a CAS guardian angel, choose an adoptable dog, then contact Kristen Riffle at kriffle@charlestonanimalsociety.org or call (843) 329-1579.
