Some dogs are born to sniff out drugs, fight crime, and scare bad guys. Then there’s Gavel.
Gavel is a German shepherd, and began his police training as a young pup. He was serving at the Governor’s mansion in Brisbane, Australia, but it became clear Gavel was more interested in snuggling than intimidation techniques. By that time, however, the whole staff had fallen in love with him and just couldn’t let him go. The Royal Governor not only adopted Gavel, but he also gave him a job as official greeter and tour guide.
Gavel is now the Vice Regal dog, and proudly wears his vest of honor for state occasions as well as the monthly open houses he presides over. Sounds like a dream come true!
