Day Care Center Terms & Conditions
Effective: May 2, 2024
From time to time, Rover may enable pet owners (“you”) to find, communicate with, and arrange for the provision of pet care services with non-residential, facility-based establishments providing daycare services (“Daycare Centers”, also referred to as “Day Care Centers”) as part of the Rover Service. Our provision of this program (the “Program”) is subject to these Day Care Center Terms (these “Program Terms”) and the Rover Terms of Service (the “Rover Terms of Service”), as modified or supplemented herein. The Program Terms and the Rover Terms of Service constitute, individually and collectively, a binding legal agreement between you and Rover. If there are any conflicts between the Program Terms and the Rover Terms of Service, these Program Terms shall control solely with respect to this Program.
- Acceptance of Terms; Modifications.
You understand and agree that we may change the Program Terms from time to time, and that any such changes will be effective (except as otherwise described in Section 17.10 of the Rover Terms of Service) when we post the modified Program Terms on the Rover Service, unless otherwise required by applicable law. Your continued access and use of the Rover Service after we post the modified Program Terms will constitute your consent to be bound by the modified Program Terms. BY AGREEING TO THESE PROGRAM TERMS, SUCH AS BY MAKING A BOOKING WITH A DAYCARE CENTER, YOU ACCEPT THESE PROGRAM TERMS. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THESE PROGRAM TERMS, YOU SHOULD NOT ACCEPT THEM, IN WHICH CASE YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO USE THE ROVER SERVICE FOR THE PROGRAM.
- Definitions.
Any capitalized terms used and not defined in these Program Terms will have the meanings given to them in the Rover Terms of Service.
In addition, the following definitions apply for the Program:
- References to the “Rover Guarantee” in the Program Terms and Rover Terms of Service shall refer exclusively to the Rover Guarantee for Day Care Center Bookings.
- References to the “Rover Service” in the Program Terms and Rover Terms of Service shall include the tools, support and services described in Section 2.1 of the Rover Terms of Service as they apply to the Program.
- References to “Service Providers” in the Program Terms and Rover Terms of Service shall include Daycare Centers.
- References to “Terms” in the Rover Terms of Service shall include these Program Terms.
- References to “user” in the Rover Terms of Service shall include Daycare Centers.
- Daycare Centers.
Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the Rover Terms of Service (including Section 10), while Rover may conduct initial reviews of Daycare Centers or their profiles, Rover does not facilitate Background Checks or Identity Verifications on Daycare Centers or their employees, contractors, or other personnel, nor does Rover provide Daycare Centers with educational materials or guidance regarding safety or pet care. As with any service booked on Rover, you should exercise caution and use your independent judgment before booking with a Daycare Center or otherwise interacting with users via the Rover Service. Pet Owners are solely responsible for making decisions that are in the best interests of themselves and their pets and for evaluating the suitability of Daycare Center for the services they offer to provide. Similarly, Rover does not endorse reviews of Daycare Center by other Pet Owners that may be available via the Rover Service or third-party sites, and Rover makes no commitments that such reviews are accurate or legitimate.
Daycare Centers may be subject to additional or modified terms with Rover than those applicable to other types of Service Providers in the Rover Terms of Service. Daycare Centers may also maintain separate policies and rules that apply to the Daycare Center or you. You are responsible for adhering to the Daycare Center’s policies or rules and acknowledge that failure to do so may result in your suspension or termination from the Rover Service.
- Bookings.
For purposes of the Program, a “Booking” occurs when Pet Owners click “Book Now” to request to book with the Daycare Center. No Pet Care Services are confirmed until the Daycare Center has provided confirmation of the Booking, specifying the fees, time period, and other terms for provision of Pet Care Services via email and the booking mechanism provided on the Rover Service. If you are a Pet Owner and you initiate a Booking, you agree to purchase and pay for the Pet Care Services described in the request page when you click “Book Now.” All requests are subject to acceptance by the Daycare Center. The Daycare Center is not obligated to accept your (or any) request and may, at their discretion, decline for any reason. Once you complete a Booking, you agree to honor the price and other terms of that Booking, as acknowledged in the Booking confirmation.
You authorize Rover to share your information with the Daycare Center to facilitate your Booking and to calculate and collect any payments or commissions related to the Booking or subsequent bookings made directly with the Daycare Center.
- Fees; Payment.
This Section replaces Sections 9.2 – 9.5 and 9.8 of the Rover Terms of Service as they pertain to Pet Owners and the Program. Pet Owners may purchase Pet Care Services from a Daycare Center by requesting a Booking and paying for the Booking through any methods allowed by Rover from time to time. Pet Owners enter into a transaction with the Daycare Center when you accept a Booking, and you agree to pay the total amount indicated in the Booking, and any other fees and charges imposed by the Daycare Center. Rover earns a commission for each Booking made with the Daycare Center through Rover, and may earn commissions for subsequent bookings made directly with the Daycare Center thereafter. The Service Provider, not Rover, is responsible for performing the Pet Care Services. In addition, you agree to indemnify Rover for, and agree that we may charge your credit card or other payment method for, any additional costs and expenses we or the Daycare Center incur as a result of your failure to retrieve your pet at the end of the service period agreed in a Booking.
For purposes of the Program, you may be asked or required to pay for your Booking directly with the Daycare Center, such as upon your first visit. You may be required to provide the Daycare Center with valid, up-to-date credit card or other payment information and to maintain that payment information (or an acceptable alternative payment method) on file with the Daycare Center so long as you have any outstanding, confirmed Bookings. You are responsible for maintaining up-to-date payment information with the Daycare Center.
- Cancellations and Refunds
This Section replaces Section 9.6 of the Rover Terms of Service. Rover can help you find replacement Service Providers when a Daycare Center cancels a Booking near the start date of the service period identified in the Booking. If you wish to cancel a Booking, you should use the mechanisms available through the Rover Service to do so or, if no mechanism is available, you should contact the Daycare Center directly. Daycare Centers may have their own cancellation policies, which you are responsible for adhering to. Because payments are made directly with the Daycare Center, Rover cannot issue refunds for any reason. Any payment disputes are between you and the Daycare Center. In our sole discretion, if we determine that a Daycare Center has failed to provide Pet Care Services as agreed with you, we may issue a Rover credit for the full or partial value of the Booking.
- Abandoned Pets; Re-homing; Emergencies.
In addition to the options described in Section 2.7 of the Rover Terms of Service, Pet Owners who arrange for Pet Care Services and fail to retrieve their pet after the service period identified in a Booking agree that the Service Provider may follow its respective policies or procedures with respect to the pet. Pet Owners are responsible for arranging retrieval of their pet from the Daycare Center. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in Section 2.7 and Section 2.8 of the Rover Terms of Service, Pet Owners understand that (a) Rover may not have the ability, and is not obligated, to remove any pet from a Daycare Center’s care and (b) Daycare Centers may follow their individual policies or procedures with respect to emergencies or veterinary or medical care, including when and how to contact Pet Owners or Rover in the event of an emergency or if veterinary or medical care is necessary.
- Rover Guarantee for Daycare Center Bookings.
Bookings with Daycare Centers are subject to the Rover Guarantee for Day Care Center Bookings, which is distinct from and exclusive of the Rover Guarantee Terms. For this Program, any references to the Rover Guarantee in the Rover Terms of Service shall be construed to refer exclusively to the Rover Guarantee for Day Care Center Bookings.
- Third-Party Booking Management Systems.
To make a Booking with a Daycare Center, you may be required to set up an account with the Daycare Center’s booking management system, such as Gingr, LLC (“Gingr”). You authorize Rover to create an account with Gingr on your behalf, and to obtain all necessary access to, and perform all necessary activity on, your Gingr account to facilitate your Booking and calculate and collect any payments or commissions related to the Booking or subsequent bookings made directly with the Daycare Center. Your account with Gingr is subject to the Gingr Terms of Service at https://www.gingrapp.com/terms-of-use and Gingr Privacy Policy at https://www.gingrapp.com/privacy-policy (collectively, the “Gingr Terms”). By using the Rover Service for the Program, you acknowledge and agree to the Gingr Terms as they apply to you. Any unauthorized use of the Gingr service may result in your suspension or termination from the Rover Service.

Rover Guarantee for Day Care Center Bookings
Effective: May 2, 2024
In certain markets, Pet Owners may be able to book daycare services with non-residential, storefront daycare centers through the Rover platform. The Rover Guarantee for Day Care Center Bookings (this “Addendum”) applies to such bookings, together with the Rover’s Terms of Service and the Day Care Center Terms & Conditions (collectively, the “Rover TOS”) and other terms and policies applicable to the Rover Service. Unless otherwise defined in this Addendum, all capitalized terms will have the meaning set forth in the Rover Guarantee Terms and Rover TOS.
- The Rover Guarantee for Day Care Center Bookings; Definitions.
Subject to all of the limitations, exclusions and conditions in this Addendum, Rover agrees to pay (the “Rover Guarantee”) a Requesting Party when a Responsible Party fails to pay for certain pet veterinary expenses for a Booked Pet arising from a Booking at a Daycare Center, as specifically set forth below (the “Covered Losses”). The Rover Guarantee for Day Care Center Bookings does not provide reimbursement for property damage of, or personal injury to, Daycare Centers, Pet Owners, or any Third Party, or for pet veterinary expenses for any animal other than the Booked Pet.
As used herein:
“Booked Pet” refers to the Pet Owner’s pet for which the Booking was made.
“Booking” shall mean a reservation for daycare services made with a Daycare Center via the booking mechanism provided on the Rover Service.
“Daycare Center” or “Day Care Center” means a non-residential, storefront daycare center, including any affiliates or persons providing services on the Daycare Center’s behalf.
“Minimum Contribution” means $250 USD.
“Requesting Party” means and is limited to an applicable Pet Owner who is eligible to request payments for a Covered Loss under this Addendum.
“Responsible Party” means, as applicable, (a) a Daycare Center whose acts or omissions are the direct and primary cause of a Covered Loss, or (b) a Third Party whose pet is the direct and primary cause of a Covered Loss.
“Third Party” means any third party, including but not limited to guests, visitors or other clients of a Daycare Center or family members or significant others of a Pet Owner.
The purpose of the Rover Guarantee is to promote user confidence in, and increase use of, the Rover Service. THE ROVER GUARANTEE IS NOT INSURANCE. THESE TERMS ARE NOT INTENDED TO BE AN OFFER TO INSURE OR AN INSURANCE CONTRACT AND DO NOT TAKE THE PLACE OF ANY INSURANCE COVERAGE YOU MAY HAVE. TO THE EXTENT ANY ROVER USERS DESIRE PROTECTION BEYOND THE SCOPE OF THE ROVER GUARANTEE, THEY MUST PURCHASE INSURANCE THAT WILL PROVIDE SUFFICIENT COVERAGE. NO PET OWNER, DAYCARE CENTER, THIRD PARTY OR OTHER PERSON, OTHER THAN THE REQUESTING PARTY WHO MEETS THE CONDITIONS OF THESE TERMS WITH RESPECT TO THE CORRESPONDING COVERED LOSS, HAS ANY RIGHTS UNDER THESE TERMS OR ANY OTHER MATERIALS OR REPRESENTATIONS REGARDING THE ROVER GUARANTEE. THERE ARE NO THIRD-PARTY BENEFICIARIES TO THESE TERMS OR ANY OTHER MATERIALS OR REPRESENTATIONS REGARDING THE ROVER GUARANTEE.
You must comply with all applicable requirements and conditions to be eligible for the Rover Guarantee.
- General Conditions, Limitations and Exclusions.
When you submit a claim for reimbursement under the Rover Guarantee, you agree to use your best efforts to communicate honestly and transparently with Rover (or its agents), including by promptly providing documentation or information reasonably requested by Rover to assist with its review process (including information regarding applicable insurance, such as homeowners or renters policies). Failure to provide adequate documentation or providing fraudulent information will terminate all benefits under the Rover Guarantee.
In addition, the following terms and conditions apply to all Covered Losses:
(a) The cost(s) for which you seek reimbursement must arise from injury or damage that occurred during the scheduled start and end dates of a Booking accepted by Daycare Center and Pet Owner prior to the day of the injury or damage, and must be a direct and proximate result of the booked services. (This means that costs arising from injuries or damages sustained during any service not subject to a Booking are not eligible for reimbursement.)
(b) The injury or damage for which you seek reimbursement must have been directly and proximately caused by the acts or omissions of the Daycare Center.
(c) You must notify Rover of your claim via applicable local telephone number or email address (as indicated in the table at the end of this Addendum) during the Booking (or, if later, within 48 hours following the injury or damage).
(d) Before the Rover Guarantee applies, Rover will, in its discretion, first try to help Requesting Parties resolve problems with Responsible Parties directly or otherwise confirm independently that the Responsible Party is unwilling or unable to pay.
(e) If a Daycare Center cedes care, custody or control of a Booked Pet to a third party during the service period for a Booking (whether or not authorized by the Pet Owner), reimbursement is not available for injuries to the Booked Pet that occur during the period in which care, custody or control was ceded.
(f) The Rover Guarantee does not extend to the following:
- Damage, injury or other loss or claim resulting from the care of any animal in violation of Section 4 of the Rover TOS (including, for avoidance of doubt, any animal whose ownership or third-party care is prohibited by, or subject to registration under, applicable law).
- Damage, injury or other loss to any Third Party animal(s) alongside the Booked Pet during a Booking, including a Pet Owner’s other pets that were not the subject of the Booking.
- Damage, injury or other loss or claim arising in any way from automotive liability, including loss arising from any car or other vehicular accident or incident.
- Damage, injury or other loss or claim arising from acts of nature, such as earthquakes, hurricanes and tornadoes, or from exigencies caused by other factors beyond the parties’ reasonable control, such as (without limitation) wildfires or lack or failure of public utilities or Internet service due to external factors.
- Losses not directly caused by the acts or omissions of a Responsible Party (including its agents, representatives, directors, officers, employees or contractors), including without limitation consequential damages, special damages, interruption of business, lost wages, opportunity costs, loss of use, or loss associated with unauthorized access to data.
- Non-economic damages of any kind including emotional damages, sentimental value, pain and suffering, scarring, and permanent disability.
- Losses and damages paid by any other insurance (see Section 4), including without limitation health insurance, pet insurance, homeowners insurance, renters insurance, or the Daycare Center’s insurance policies.
(g) The Rover Guarantee is subject to the Rover TOS. Rover reserves the right to deny a reimbursement request in the event that the loss, injury or damage arose, in whole or in part, from conduct by a claimant that violates the Rover TOS.
- Covered Losses for Pet Injury.
Subject to the terms of this Addendum (including without limitation Section 2, above), Rover will reimburse verifiable veterinary expenses arising from injuries to a Booked Pet while in a Daycare Center’s care or control.
The Rover Guarantee for Daycare Center Bookings excludes injuries to any other animal in the Daycare Center’s care or control or on the Daycare Center’s property (including any injuries to a Third Party’s pet caused by the Booked Pet while in the Daycare Center’s care).
(a) Additional Conditions and Limitations. A claim for reimbursement of pet veterinary expenses under the Rover Guarantee is subject to the following additional conditions and limitations:
- Within 14 days following the injury, you must submit written documentation from a board-certified practicing veterinarian that (a) specifies the costs incurred for which reimbursement is sought, (b) states the diagnosis and confirms that the injury did not result from an illness, breed-specific condition or pre-existing condition, (c) confirms that the injury occurred during the time period of the Booking, and (d) provides any other information we reasonably request. You must also inform us of any amounts (including refunds or credits) offered by or received from the Daycare Center.
- Only costs incurred for treatment provided within 30 days following the date of the injury are eligible for reimbursement.
- Reimbursement is limited to $25,000 USD.
- The Minimum Contribution is required per request-related incident, payable by the Pet Owner. This means that requests for reimbursement that do not exceed the Minimum Contribution will not trigger any reimbursement.
(b) Specific Exclusions. The following are not eligible for reimbursement under this Section 3:
- Costs incurred more than 30 days following the date of injury, including without limitation any long-term care costs resulting from the injury.
- Costs or liabilities arising from a Pet Owner’s refusal to authorize medical care for the Booked Pet.
- Injuries resulting from a pet’s contraction of fleas, ticks, worms or other parasites during a Booking (or a recurrence of a parasite issue first contracted prior to a Booking).
- Injuries resulting from (or from a recurrence of) a Pre-Existing Condition, Breed-Specific Condition, Chronic Condition, Orthopedic Condition, Undetermined Cause Illness, Preventable Illness or Proptosis (as such terms are defined in Subsection (c) below).
- Costs or expenses resulting from a pet’s pregnancy, illness, or recurrence of illness, or for preventative care.
- Non-medical expenses of any kind (including professional training, grooming, boarding, and pet food).
- Any costs or expenses other than direct damages resulting from injury to the Booked Pet, including without limitation those resulting from (a) personal injury to any individual, (b) property damage or liability, (c) injury to any other pet, (d) emotional distress or “pain and suffering”, or (e) loss of wages, changed or canceled travel plans, or any other incidental expenses.
(c) Key Definitions. Capitalized terms used above in this Section 3 have the following meanings:

- Additional Terms.
(a) Inspection of Loss. Pet Owners agree to produce or make available for inspection, at such reasonable times and places as may be designated by Rover or any claims administrator or agent, all evidence of loss, damage, cost, ownership or other claim-related information. Notwithstanding the foregoing, Rover will have no liability to Pet Owners, Daycare Centers or any other person because of any inspection or failure to inspect.
(b) Legal Compliance. Daycare Centers are solely responsible for carrying insurance sufficient to comply with legal requirements in the jurisdictions where they operate. The Rover Guarantee does not suffice for that purpose. Rover makes no guarantees or warranties that Daycare Centers have insurance or that their insurance is sufficient, and Pet Owners are advised to inquire directly with Daycare Centers about this subject.
(c) Claim Settlement. Rover may condition final payment of costs under the Rover Guarantee on execution of a Guarantee Settlement Agreement, including a release of claims against Rover or any other applicable party and an obligation to keep confidential the reimbursement amount and circumstances. Where an approved claim under the Rover Guarantee involves the Covered Loss of a party other than the Requesting Party, Rover reserves the right (but has no obligation) to pay all or a portion of the approved amount to such third party.
(d) Offset; Subrogation. Amounts payable under the Rover Guarantee are in excess of any insurance coverage or insurer payment. Rover reserves the right to offset or deduct from amounts payable to you any amounts it may have or obtain from any other person or entity obligated to compensate for Covered Losses. Rover and/or Rover’s insurers have the right to subrogate against any person or entity allegedly responsible for causing the losses in question, even if that person or entity is you. You hereby agree that, in connection with any payments made under the Rover Guarantee, you will cooperate fully with Rover in its efforts at subrogation.
(e) Amendment; Termination. Except as prohibited by law, Rover may modify or terminate the Rover Guarantee and this Addendum at any time in the manner described in Section 1 of the Rover TOS, and such modification or termination will apply to incidents occurring after the effective date of the modification or termination. Rover also reserves the right to modify the Rover Guarantee or this Addendum to the extent required to comply with applicable law, including in the event that a regulatory authority determines that Rover must obtain any license or other governmental permission to provide the Rover Guarantee. In addition, except in the case of a suit filed to enforce this Addendum, you acknowledge and agree that all benefits made available to you under this Addendum shall immediately terminate in the event you initiate any action, suit or claim against Rover, or its officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents, or affiliates, concerning a claim otherwise subject to reimbursement under this Addendum.
(f) No Waiver. Rover’s failure to enforce any right or provision of this Addendum will not constitute a waiver of future enforcement of that right or provision. The waiver of any such right or provision will be effective only if in writing and signed by a duly authorized representative of Rover.
(g) Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Arbitration. You acknowledge and agree that any claims arising from or in relation to this Addendum are subject to the Rover TOS, including the Warranty Disclaimer and (except for Rover’s obligation to pay amounts pursuant to an approved reimbursement request made under the Rover Guarantee) the Limitation of Liability set forth in the Rover TOS. You further acknowledge and agree that any dispute or claim relating in any way to this Addendum will be adjudicated in accordance with the applicable manner set forth in the Rover TOS.
