Fans the world over were distraught at the news of Carrie Fisher’s heart attack on a plane December 23rd. Carrie’s biggest fan, her therapy dog Gary, was pictured poignantly waiting at the window for her to come home on his fan-run Twitter account that night.
Carrie was hospitalized upon landing in LA, and was in a coma for four days before passing. Friends and family were hopeful she would recover, and her death came as a shock.

Gary and Carrie had been on a book signing tour in London, where she and Gary enjoyed high tea at the Ritz during downtime.
Gary’s first brush with fame
Gary first rose to stardom when he accompanied Carrie to a ‘Good Morning America’ taping in support of ‘The Force Awakens’ last year. Gary is a certified therapy animal who accompanied Carrie to hundreds of events, where his calming influence and devotion helped her deal with anxiety and bipolar disorder.

Carrie’s daughter Billie Lourd will be Gary’s new person. Billie’s Frenchie Tina and Gary are very close.
