A woman’s life was changed forever when she got the chance to try a pair of special eSight glasses that help restore sight to the visually impaired.
Legally blind woman sees beloved guide dog
Using eSight glasses to massively boost her vision, Mary Sedgwick was caught on video seeing her best friend and guide dog Lucy for the first time.
Sedgwick was just finishing med school when she lost not only her sight but also her career.
For the next few years she got by, learning Braille and working with a guide dog who died suddenly from cancer, but never really escaped her feelings of isolation and depression.
Mary and Lucy’s Story
Enter Lucy. When Sedgwick and Lucy were partnered up by Leader Dogs for the Blind, the pair quickly developed an amazing connection. Mary found her confidence and a best friend in Lucy and began making motivational speaking appearances across the nation. Together they can navigate any airport or public transportation system needed to get to their next gig.
Now Dr. Sedgwick is using her story to fundraise for two pairs of the high tech glasses— one pair for herself and one to donate to a vision impaired person in need. You can donate to her campaign here.
On her fundraising page, she shares, “There are no words to describe how I felt when I saw the face of my beloved family and friends and the beautiful, soulful eyes of Lucy for the first time! My heart has been flowing over since that moment, and my mind has been exploding with the potential the future holds.”
