Here’s a round-up of our favorite plush dog toys, many of which we’ve tested in-house. Read on!
PetSafe Pogo Plush Toys (Verified Review)
No need to worry about cleaning up piles of poly-fill with this popular plush dog toy. This toy is stuffing-free and features a durable, inner bouncy frame that’s covered with super-strong (yet cozy) faux sheepskin. It’s available in two sizes and three styles, including a bunny (pictured) and panda. Just make sure to toss it if your dog manages to chew it down to the rubber inside.
Verified review: “Enzo was jumping up and down for this toy, likely because it is hairy and reminded him of squirrels. I liked how the fabric seemed thicker, and the toy was compact and easy to throw around. Enzo was infatuated with it!”Find on Amazon
GoDog Plush Squeaky Dog Toy (Verified Review)
This little furball stands up to heavy play with reinforced seams, a durable, chew-tolerant lining, and a squeaker that will have your dog coming back for more. We love it because you’re guaranteed a replacement if it doesn’t outlive a standard plush toy.
Verified review: “This is a great toy! This toy is pretty big and hard for my small dog to squeak (thank goodness). Ginger can really destroy a toy, but this has held up for two weeks and counting.”Shop on Chewy
Chuckit Indoor Ball (Verified Review)
When you can’t make it outside, this fuzzy Chuckit indoor ball makes it possible to still play all day. With a lightweight design that protects indoor surfaces, this plush dog toy still features the characteristic rubber ball bounce that drives dogs wild. Plus, it fits in the Chuckit Indoor Launcher to take your fetch game to an entirely new level (and perhaps quite literally have them bouncing off the walls—without breaking lamps).
Verified review (fromThe Best 16 Dog Fetch Toys for Hours of Endless Play): “This toy brought an intense amount of joy to both my dog and the Rover dogs that were staying with us this weekend. I was surprised that the ball was big enough for two dogs to play tug of war with it, which made the challenges of sharing a ball fun instead of competitive. It also did an excellent job of not making marks on my walls during our indoor fetch sessions.”Find on Amazon
Outward Hound Invincibles Plush Dog Toy (Verified Review)
Whether they’re playing tug-of-war, shaking their “prey,” or making this snake squeak, dogs of all sizes adore this stuffing-free toy. Dura-Tuff inner lining stands strong against pointy teeth. This plush dog toy tested reasonably well in our review, below.
Verified review: “Skye our German shepherd immediately bit the snake and got so excited to hear one of the six squeakers squeak back! Skye has the ability to pop tennis balls in about 30 seconds of chewing, and squeaker toys are usually not durable enough to prevent her from ripping out the squeaker quickly! To my surprise, her bites were not enough to puncture the outer lining of the snake! The volume of the squeakers was also not unreasonably loud.
One of Skye’s favorite things to do with toys is “tug.” When we played, I noticed the toy is definitely not something I would consider weak, as it held up to Skye’s death grip. After I gave up (or as Skye would put it, after she won), Skye happily took it back to her bed to begin her work of trying to pop the squeakers.
The claim of this product is the “invincible squeaker,” and while Skye gave it a run for its money, after about 24 hours the invincible squeakers were not so invincible anymore. When I picked up the toy, the squeakers felt like crushed soda cans. I could hear the rattling on the inside of the actual squeaker. She had broken it loose, and thus, no more squeaks!
The toy and lining itself is still intact, and she is very happy to parade it around, but she does now lose interest in it faster due to the lack of squeaky feedback.”Shop on Chewy
West Paw Rowdies Lincoln Squeaky Plush Toy (Verified Review)
A great eco-friendly choice, this toy is made in the USA from non-toxic, recycled materials. Not only is this critter super plush and adorable, it’s also made of tough stuff—Zogoflex rubber and HardyTex fabric material—so it’ll stand up to tons of roughhousing.
Verified review: “This toy is excellent for playing tug, or throwing like a frisbee. The limbs have rubber ends, which gave my dog something to chew on that won’t just rip off immediately. It’s a great size, is machine washable, and has lasted years in our house!”Shop on Chewy
Canines love this furry friend. In fact, most reviewers can’t stop talking about how obsessed their pups are with cuddling this duck! Durable and larger than the average plush, this toy also squeaks for the noise aficionados and comes in multiple color options (Chewy’s pick).Shop on Chewy
This carefully crafted monster has a double-layered exterior and sturdy joints that make it ideal for even the strongest chewers. And you can feel awesome about every purchase—it’s made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles and is washer and dryer friendly.Find on Amazon
Multiple squeakers are packed into this plushie, a soft, strong and adorable toy many Chewy reviewers have said their dogs get quite obsessed over. “She’s like a psycho little monster with it,” says one.Shop on Chewy
No toys are indestructible, and plush toys can be an especially mixed bag. While these toys and brands are well-loved by dogs, their durability got mixed in-house reviews. As always, your dog’s chewing and play habits may vary and these might be very fun and worthy additions to their toy collection.
GoDog Dragon Squeaky Toy (Verified Review)
This cutie with lots of extremities to pull on boasts enhanced durability with what it calls “Chew Guard Technology,” which adds a strong inner liner to this soft exterior plushie toy, and seams are double-stitched and reinforced.
Verified review: “I liked the different textures and thicknesses the dragon had throughout its body, I think it kept Enzo entertained longer. Enzo had his eyes glued to it when he first saw it because of all the limbs the dragon had; it is not a boring looking toy. However, the material didn’t seem that thick and durable, it was thinner than expected. Enzo loved this toy and paraded it around our apartment, running up and down the hallway with it. I loved how it had a squeaker and also had a different body shape than more mainstream toys, but Enzo destroyed the toy pretty quickly, he ripped the nose open and swallowed the nostril. He loved it, but ultimately it was too easy to rip into, likely due to the thinner fabric selection.”Shop on Chewy
Kong Shakers Stuffed Dragon (Verified Review)
Kong is generally known for quality products—this one might just float your dog’s boat (it does for quite a few Chewy reviewers, thought not ours). It squeaks and rattles (but a little less loudly than some other toys) and has an extra tough mid-section for some shaking action.
Verified review: “I thought the toy looked great and Ginger was excited about it. I like that it didn’t have super obvious squeakers so Ging didn’t really squeak it that much. I like that it had the shaker in the nose so it’s a quieter toy. It turns out I didn’t like the product. It didn’t last more than 2 hours with Ging playing with it on and off. She exposed a weak point in the stitching and ripped everything out including one of the squeakers. The product was actually disappointing. I’ve had toys of Ging’s for more than a year and this was probably the second fastest that she’s ever completely destroyed a toy. The squeaker was too easy to get to once the toy was opened which isn’t very safe for dogs as a possible choking hazard.”Find on Chewy
Mighty Safari Hippo Plush Dog Toy (Verified Review)
This multi-layer, machine-washable plush dog toy floats for summer or bath time fun. It claims durability with reinforced seams, but it’s most likely suited for smaller dogs and light chewers.
Verified review: “I was very disappointed by this product, as it was advertised to be a tough and durable toy. While most high-quality toys will last my dog a while, this toy lasted for less than one hour before my dog bit through the fabric, exposing the furry guts. It wasn’t until my dog swallowed some fabric that I noticed she had broken through. I do not recommend this product to anyone with a dog that is a moderately strong chewer.”Find on Amazon
