Melissa did an excellent job of keeping us informed about Maya's behavior--even sending pictures. We appreciated her taking such care of her with providing treats, walks, TV watching, etc. Our house was extremely clean when we returned, as well as changing and washing the linens on the bed. Thank you, Melissa, for being so conscientious in every aspect.

Kyler and Hannah were amazing in home sitters for our 3 dogs and 2 cats while we went out of town! We received lots of picture updates while away and any concerns we had were addressed promptly by Hannah and Kyler! Our pets loved them and it gave us peace of mind while across the country. We will definitely be booking with Hannah and Kyler again!

About: Hi my name is Laurie. I am 28 and have been around dogs most of my life. Growing up I had a jack Russell, chihuahua and a Yorkie poo. I currently have a Yorkie and Pomeranian named Benji and Cali. I have some experience with big dogs since I used to work at a boarding facility. My experience with them is that they need lots of exercise and some down time. Your fur baby will be safe with me. We will go on long walks, play fetch, or simply just chill. Im also comfortable with cats. I am a cat owner and had one when I was younger. I have a flexible schedule so if I sound right for you and your fur baby let me know. (:

About: Hi! I'm a pre-vet student with hands on animal care experience and a genuine love for animals of all kinds. I know how important it is to leave your pet with someone you can fully trust, so I focus on providing attentive, dependable care while making sure your pet feels safe and loved! Whether its walks, playtimes, feeding, or just keeping them company, I treat every pet as my own. My goal is to give owners peace of mind while creating a fun, calm, and caring experience for their pets. Pet care fits naturally into my weekly routine and is something I prioritize and plan around. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to provide consistent care, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and some weekends depending on the day. I’m able to accommodate regular visits, drop-ins, walks, and feeding schedules, and I make sure to build my commitments around each pet’s needs. I’m reliable with timing and communication, so pet parents can feel confident their pets are being checked on and cared for as planned. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I prioritize creating a calm, safe, and familiar environment by following their normal routine as closely as possible. I pay close attention to feeding instructions, medication schedules, and any specific behavioral needs or preferences each pet has. I make sure doors are secured, litter boxes are clean, water is fresh, and the space is kept tidy and comfortable. I also focus on building trust with each pet by moving at their pace, especially with shy or anxious animals, and giving them gentle attention and reassurance. I treat every home with respect and care, keeping everything clean and leaving things exactly as I found them. My goal is always to ensure both pets and owners feel safe, comfortable, and confident while I’m there.

Emma is great! She was fast to respond to my request when my normal dog sitter had to cancel last minute. The pups absolutely loved her! She sent regular check-ins. And the house was in the exact same condition as we left it, which says a lot during shedding season with two double-coated dogs. She’s my new go-to if I need a sitter in the future.

About: I’ve been around animals my whole life and love getting to know each pet’s unique personality! Before pursuing Occupational Therapy, I completed coursework on a pre-veterinary track, giving me additional knowledge of animal care. I’m comfortable caring for dogs of all ages and energy levels, from playful puppies to senior companions. Whether your pet loves long walks, playing fetch, going for a run, or just relaxing with company, I’m happy to tailor my care to their routine. I’ll always treat your pet like family and keep you updated with photos and messages while you’re away. I recently graduated with my Master’s in Occupational Therapy and am currently studying for my board exam, which gives me a flexible schedule throughout the week. This allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to each pet’s individual needs, whether that’s walks, drop-in visits, playtime, or just keeping them company. I’m available on both weekdays and weekends and will always do my best to accommodate your pet’s routine. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I’ll follow your care instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walks, medications, and any special needs. I treat every home with respect and provide regular updates and photos so you can relax knowing your pet is in caring, dependable hands.

Magnolia did a stay to take care of our cat & dog for just over a week. We came home to two happy and healthy furry children. This was our first time using a service rather than a recommendation for a sitter from a friend and Magnolia quickly put us at ease when she came over to meet everyone before the stay. She's very nice, responsive and I could see they & the house would be in capable hands. We'd definitely reach out to her again.

Julia took amazing care of our two dogs and home while we were out of town for over a week. We arrived home to happy, calm, content pets and a beautifully clean house. We appreciated her thoughtful pictures and updates about how our girls were doing in her care. She also helped our nervous pups feel comfortable faster than any other petsitter (or visitor of any kind!) has in the past. Thank you again, Julia! You're the best.

About: Hi my name is Steve I'm a 58-year-old retired male who has had pets my whole life. I have been providing over-night pet/house sitting for 20 plus years with many repeat customers. I have provided stays from a "long week-end" to 7 weeks at time. I am trustworthy and dependable on each and every job. I believe its easier for pets to get more comfortable with a new person rather then a new environment. Pets also love their routines so following them is very important to me. Some of my included duties are mail collection, garbage collection, plant watering, and keeping your pets and home safe while your away. If this sounds interesting to you please contact me, references upon request. I'm retired, so I'm available for 24/7 pet care in your home, so your pets dont spend too much time alone. I will give constant attention as needed, to make sure they know they are special. I believe in keeping with your pet's routines, from waking up, playtime, feeding, and to bedtime. I also believe its easier for pet to get used to a new person instead of a new environment.

Daisy May is currently the only dog I have so far. Sitting Schedule: Breakfast is at 10:30. I'm reading on how to train dogs and so treats would be ideal for play time! They also get enrichment time with pet toys and snacks! I also groom on the weekend. I mostly had dogs as pets; I rescued a cat and named him Jeffery and he was adopted by a loving family. If you have more questions feel free to ask me! Thank You! I’m currently working part-time as a caregiver; I’m available after 12:00pm during the week; My weekends are flexible. FAQs for House Sitting - Banks

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 316 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Banks. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Banks walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Banks maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Banks choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Banks. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
