“Kinsey did such an amazing job house sitting for our dogs! She was attentive, easy to reach, and sent tons of pictures during her stay. We definitely look forward to booking her again!”

About: Currently, I am a first year veterinary student at Texas A&M. With that I work with dogs and cats daily, medically and behaviorally. I have experience with giving medications, dog walking, cleaning cages, and taking care of multiple dogs at once. While in school, I have also been volunteering at my local animal shelter, so I have many years of dog and cat experience. With the diverse experiences that I have, I am able to completely tailor my visits with your pets to their needs. I love taking care of animals and will ensure that they get all the attention you would usually give them. One of my goals within veterinary medicine is to offer low cost services to ensure that every pet has the opportunity to be taken care of. I love serving my community and I am a compassionate and loving care taker. Your pet(s) will be in great hands! I currently a full time student, so while I’m in school I will only be able to care for your pet before 8am and after 5pm. On the weekends, I can be very flexible since most of my days are spent studying. Specifically I would be able to check on pets every 4 hours or so if needed. I am even more available and flexible during breaks from school. During breaks, it’s all dependent on what kind of care your pet needs but I am adaptable and a quick learner. While caring for your pets in your home, I am willing to spend extra time playing with or just cuddling so they have extra human interaction. I also have toys I can bring if needed as well! I will also update you every time I am there so you know who is coming into your home, and I take every precaution to ensure that your pets and home are safe while you’re away. I can be adaptable to whatever situation you are in!
“Julie was AMAZING! This was our first time ever using Rover, and she completely exceeded our expectations. She watched our German Shepherd, Stark, and did an incredible job keeping us updated, making sure he was well cared for, and giving us peace of mind while we were away. It was so reassuring knowing he was in such great hands. We couldn’t have asked for a better first Rover experience. Highly recommend Julie to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter!”

About: I have loved animals all my life. I just moved to Darlington and my best friends mom told me her 1 cat won't come near me etc...1st day I was here her cat came up to me and let me pet her and she comes out of the room often to get petted. I have had a beagle, german shepherd and 2 lab/rotweiler mixed over the years. I am currently seeking employment so am available everyday/any time until I get a full time job. Can come any day or time if needed. Give them all the love they need, make sure they have food, water and take them on walks/go to bathroom. Play with them as well.

“Linda was so great with our dog, Tex. She stayed overnight with him while we were on vacation and took him on walks. She sent us several photos of their time together. I will hire her again!”

About: I've taken care of dogs since I was 5 and since then have pet-sat for dogs, cats, chickens, fish, and turtles. Additionally, I have 5+ years of experience training and taking care of horses of all ages. I am currently working part-time 11 am to 4:30 pm on Mondays and 8 am to 4:30 pm Tuesday-Thursday. I am completely free Fridays and on the weekend. I am living in an apartment with a closed in grassy courtyard with no way to crate an animal in my home, but I do have a balcony.
About: I’m currently a student at Texas A&M, and even with my classes, I keep a very open and flexible schedule for pet care. I’ve grown up with animals my entire life, and I’ve been pet sitting for other families since I was a freshman in high school. Whether it’s walking, feeding, playtime, or just keeping your pet comfortable, I’m reliable, patient, and genuinely love caring for all kinds of animals. Pet care fits perfectly into my schedule because I only have one class each day and work part-time at the Lincoln Recreation Center. I’m also a member of Zeta Tau Alpha, but outside of those commitments my schedule is wide open. That flexibility makes it easy for me to be available for walks, drop-ins, or longer pet-sitting stays whenever needed. I always prioritize each pet’s safety and comfort, whether they’re staying in my home or I’m caring for them in yours. I follow all routines you provide, keep a clean and pet-friendly environment, and ensure they’re never left unsupervised in unsafe situations. I take time to earn their trust so they feel relaxed, secure, and happy throughout their stay.
“Kathie was excellent with my dog Macy! She took her on multiple walks each day and was very attentive. Kathie provided detailed updates whenever she went to walk Macy, feed her, and spend time with her. Highly recommend Kathie as a pet sitter!”

About: Hi, I’m Matt — your friendly neighborhood sitter in West Bryan! I believe pets deserve a little vacation of their own while you’re away — full of comfort, play, and genuine care. I grew up with dogs and have always loved their company — big, small, shy, or silly, they all have their own personalities, and I enjoy getting to know each one. I’m calm, dependable, and treat every pet as if they were my own. Whether it’s a nap on the couch, a walk in the sunshine, or just quiet company, I make sure your furry friend feels loved and secure. I don’t have pets at home right now, so your pup gets my full attention. My schedule is flexible on weekdays, which makes it easy to fit in your routine — from drop-ins to overnight stays. I’m always happy to send photo updates and keep you connected while you’re away. Because when you travel, your dog shouldn’t just “make do” — they should have a great time too. My flexible weekday schedule means your dog’s “vacation” runs on their time — not mine! Whether that’s a morning stroll, lunchtime visit, or cozy overnight stay, I’m around when they need company. Because dogs deserve vacations and safe spaces! My home is quiet, pet-free, and cozy — the kind of spot pups settle into easily. I keep things calm, follow your care instructions closely, and always supervise outdoor time. Think of it as a stress-free stay for your dog — and peace of mind for you.
“Brittany did a great job with our two dogs and three cats. She sent pictures to us on a regular basis and stayed in contact with us. Our pets really liked her.”

I know every pet has their own routine, and I do my best to keep them comfortable while you’re away. My goal is to care for your dog as if they were my own, giving them the same love, attention, and patience they would receive from you. I understand how important it is to trust the person caring for your pet, and I’ll always treat them like family. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because I have a flexible schedule that allows me to provide dependable care throughout the day. Whether your pet needs walks, potty breaks, feeding, playtime, litter box cleaning, or simply some extra love and companionship, I’m happy to help. I enjoy spending time with both dogs and cats, and I’ll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for while you’re away. At this time, I provide care only in my clients’ homes so your pets can stay comfortable in the environment they know best. I understand that every pet has their own routine, and I’ll follow your instructions exactly, whether that includes feeding schedules, walks, medications, playtime, litter box care, or any other special requests. My goal is to provide dependable, loving care so you can have peace of mind while you’re away.
“Maddison was wonderful! We were gone for a week, and our pups were loved and well taken care of. Madison was communicating with me about them, she played with them and followed directions exactly. She took great care of our home. And before she left, she cleaned their bowls and eating areas.”

About: I’ve had pets for 6 years now. I got my first Ragdoll cat in 2020, then raised a black Labrador from a puppy in 2021. We spent a lot of time together and went on a lot of trips, so he’s pretty used to new places and changes. My friends used to call my pets “travel pets.” In 2024, I also got a Siamese cat. I’m very used to having pets around all the time and spending long hours with them. I really enjoy being with animals. Being around pets makes me happy and gives me a lot of energy, and I’m more than happy to spend time just hanging out with them, playing, walking, or keeping them company. I’m a PhD student at Texas A&M, and I mostly work from home since my work is computer-based. I don’t need to go into an office except for occasional meetings, so my schedule is pretty flexible. I usually like to take pets out first thing after I wake up, and during the day I have plenty of breaks where I’m happy to spend time playing with them or just hanging out. I’m around most of the day, so pets are rarely left alone for long periods. I often watch my friends’ pets, especially when they go home for holidays or travel, so I’m used to caring for pets that are new to me. I’m pretty good at getting pets to feel comfortable quickly, and I always take things slow and let them set the pace. I keep my place clean and calm, and I’m careful about safety and routines. I want pets to feel safe and relaxed, not stressed.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 286 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Astin. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Astin walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Astin maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Astin choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Astin. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
