About: Animals have been a part of my life forever, and caring for them isn’t a job for me — it’s truly a passion. I’ve owned animals my entire life and currently have dogs, who are very much like my kids. I understand how important trust, consistency, and love are when someone is coming into your home to care for your pet. I specialize in drop-in visits and dog walking, making sure your pets get the attention, exercise, and companionship they need while you’re away. Whether that’s a refreshing walk, playtime, feeding, litter box care, or just some extra cuddles and reassurance, I treat every visit as if it were my own pet. I’m also a mom to three girls who absolutely adore cats and dogs and have grown up learning how to be gentle, respectful, and loving with animals of all personalities. My goal is simple: to give you peace of mind and make sure your pets feel safe, loved, and happy in their own home. When I visit, your pets aren’t just being checked on — they’re being genuinely cared for. ❤️🐶🐱 I am of mom of 3 school aged girls! Mid day walks are my speciality! During school days off- I have little helpers that love playing with dogs and cats! (With your approval, of course!) I offer drop ins and overnight care when requested. Dogs are always happiest in their own homes. I have dogs , and can accommodate 1-2 more depending on size and temperament.
“Emily was so great with our senior dog Willow! She house sat her for the weekend and did a fantastic job. She communicated clearly about everything, sent photos, and most importantly was able to give Willow the twice daily insulin shots she needs. I highly recommend working with Emily!”
About: Hi! My name is Andrea. I have lived in the Hudson Valley for almost 4 years now, and have been working in the area off and on since 2014. I live with my partner, Mike, and precious pup Kona. I have always lived with dogs. And recently, have been thinking about getting a cat! I am an Occupational Therapist in a school district full time and love to farm and bicycle during my off time. I’ve done house sitting and dog sitting previously and enjoyed the work. I have my own vehicle and am used to commuting around the Hudson Valley for work and for fun. I wanted to get back into dog sitting and pet sitting to assist in getting a new car and to get to spend time with pets! I have always been obsessed with dogs! I show that through meeting as many as I can when out in the community :). I am active person, so long walks and playing is something I can provide. I am open to any requests you might have and am great at keeping in touch with pet parents. I can always be available through text, call, or email. I’m so excited to meet you and your lovely pets!! I have a full time job, so weekends are my only availability. However, I am open to discuss any special circumstances! I might potentially be more available on a long weekend, when I am off from my school based job. I would want to care for your pets as you would or how you would want. I am great with a schedule and specific requests.

“The second time Christine stayed with Suki, my kitty was totally comfortable with her. Watching the two of them upon my return home, I could see there was a real bond between them. Beyond ensuring a pet's physical needs are being met, its emotional well-being is the most important and most challenging thing a pet sitter needs to provide for. I am happy that I can be away from home knowing that Suki will be cared for and contented in her own space with someone she trusts and loves. Christine kept me well informed with updates and photos while I was away, too, which kept ME happy!”

“Rose took FANTASTIC care of both our dogs and house. Thanks Rose. Not sure they were happy to see us come home! She sent us photos each day we were away, and our house looked better when we got home then when we departed :-) Will definitely be reaching out to Rose for her care again”

“Ashley is my favorite of all of the wonderful Rover sitters! My pets were super happy upon my return and my home was exactly as I handed it to her! Super responsible, exacting time and a lovely, peaceful nature!”

“Angie did a great job watching our two dogs. She updated us often and sent lots of great photos. She was a great house guest and we look forward to having her watch our pups again.”

“Jessica was great! Very communicative and knowledgable about dogs, especially doodles! We got daily pictures of Murph. It was a hot weekend so Jessica was kind enough to get up early and get Murph out and walk before it got too hot.”

“Emily is AMAZING and did a fabulous job house + pup sitting while we were out of town. Her warm and caring manner instantly won our pups over and they had a wonderful weekend together. Emily’s proactive communications both before and during her stay here were very reassuring and appreciated. Can’t say enough great things and hope to use Emily many times in the future!!”
“Great experience with Cassandra house sitting my two dogs while I was out of the country. Dogs seem to have had a great time and it was so nice to get “proof of life” photos and videos every few days. I’m sure hoping she’ll be available to care for them again when I go away inJuly.”
“Sophie was perfect in every way! She took excellent care of our Peekapoo, Gia for two consecutive nights while we were attending a wedding. Gia, who has separation anxiety warmed up to Sophie relatively quickly thanks to her experience with and love of dogs combined with her mild-mannered, gentle style. We had some delays due to weather and late starts, she was very accommodating, which eased the pressure. Would definitely book her again! Highly recommended:):)”

“Rochelle is a wonderful sitter and I'm so grateful to have found her to watch my dog Gogo. I've hired Rochelle for both short and long-term stays and she is my most entrusted sitter. Dedicated, responsible, caring, and experienced.”

“Shelby was excellent with our dog. She asked plenty of questions to make sure she took the best care of Bella, sent us plenty of updates, and made sure Bella was comfortable at all times. We came home to a very happy pup. Would definitely recommend Shelby.”

About: I’ve had dogs all my life and have cared for family and friends pets numerous times. Have experience with training puppies, administering medication, bathing and walking dogs. I am currently working part time during the week but am available on weekdays before 10am and after 3pm. I am also fully available on weekends, leaving plenty of time for enriching play and cuddle time for your furry friends! I bring the pets I care for outside for long walks despite the weather and play with them for as long as they like so they can use all their pent up energy. Every pet I care for receives lots of pets and belly rubs to keep them happy and entertained.
“Elisha did a wonderful job watching my shy pup and two kitties while we were gone for an evening. Although my dog is rather nervous around strangers, my pup ended up sleeping with Elisha during a storm. It gave me great comfort to know my animals were being looked after during the storm and while we were away. Looking forward to having her watch my pets again next week!! Thanks for everything, Elisha!”

“We hired Janice to take care of our dog, Drew, at our wedding, which he took part in. Drew is a rescue and can sometimes take a little time to warm to new people. Janice was patient with Drew and took great care of him! Janice fed Drew, walked him and sent us pictures and texts with updates about how he was doing. If you need someone to watch your dog, I recommend Janice!”

“Sofia was wonderful! She was always responsive, and took such wonderful care of the dogs. They loved her and were in great hands. She left the house in great shape and was a super respectful guest. Would highly recommend using Sofia!”

“Katie is truly the best. She took care of our pit bull and our sphynx, plus our best friend’s older pit who has mobility issues, anxiety, and a pretty involved medication routine. Managing all three could not have been easy, but she handled everything with so much care and attention. We’ve used Katie multiple times and she’s always reliable, communicative, and incredibly trustworthy. She keeps us updated with messages and photos, takes great care of our home, and most importantly makes sure our pets are happy, comfortable, and well cared for. It gives us so much peace of mind knowing they’re in such good hands. This was our third time working with Katie and we wouldn’t hesitate to book her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable and compassionate sitter.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 417 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ancramdale. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ancramdale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ancramdale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ancramdale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ancramdale. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
