I volunteered at my local cat shelter for 3 year,s where I cleaned the cages, fed them, played with them, and groomed them. Since the majority of my coursework is online, I have a pretty open and flexible schedule. I spend the mornings and evenings feeding, walking, and cuddling with my cat and dog. I think it's important to take the time to make sure everything is secure like double checking that outside gates are closed and there's nothing an animal shouldn't get into nearby. My favorite part about having a pet is spending quality time with them and giving lots of belly rubs!
