“I couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter for Bella, Luna, and Charles. From the start, she was professional, attentive, and clearly cared deeply about my pets’ well-being—but what truly set her apart was how she handled an unexpected situation. One of my cats had a mishap while I was away, and she went completely above and beyond. She handled everything with such care, patience, and compassion, keeping me informed while also taking the initiative to make sure my pets were comfortable, clean, and safe. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing someone so capable and thoughtful was there. On top of that, Bella and Luna were happy, relaxed, and clearly well-loved when I returned, and Charles was in great spirits too. It’s not easy to trust someone with your pets, but she made it effortless. I am incredibly grateful and would absolutely book her again without hesitation. Highly recommend!”

About: I’ve taken care of pets since I was around 6 years old, always having a family dog around to look after or helping other family members with their animals. I’m also acquainted with senior and special needs care for cats, as my last cat dealt with needing daily medications and monitoring. I’m currently looking at making this a part-time career/full time career, not currently employed elsewhere and I’m taking a semester off from school so my availability is pretty open Depending on the care needed for the pet, I’ll follow the owners instructions to a tea, I’ll have no issues crating pets, sticking to a routine for visits, and giving them lots of attention during the visit
“Sarah is super sweet and very reliable. My long-haired cat loved her. She is very flexible and communicates quickly and efficiently. I'll definitely use her services again.”

“Jennifer is amazing! She has a gift with cats. I have rather shy cats, 4 out of 6 will hide with strangers. She was able to win 5 out of 6 over immediately. Even with the one that stayed hidden she would keep in contact with me to make sure she is OK as I have cameras up to make sure they are good. She did everything we asked and made sure our Gnomio had his diabetic medicine every day. This was the first time I was able to go on vacation and relax knowing my babies were well taken care of. I will definitely be a repeat customer.”

“Great care of my cats. Very responsive through Rover app. Always on time. My cats are not stressed with her. Will always use her when available. Leaves cat area extremely neat & clean.”

“Erica was awesome! Took care of inside and outside kitties very well and put me completely at ease that they were being well cared for and loved. Our first time working together but definitely not our last. VERY much appreciated!!”

About: I have worked with animals my whole life. I absolutely adore animals, any animals! I use to work with my aunt at the clinic she works at helping her care, feed, water, clean and play with the animals that would board there. I also help her with the animals that she fosters. I do lots of research on animals and learn how to handle them and care for them. I am pretty acknowledged with animals. I know different types of breeds and their behaviors and the care they need. I would be an awesome candidate to care for your animals because I would love and treat them as my own and put their needs above mine, it would be a dream to care for any and all of your animals! Please don't hesitate to ask me anything! I am available anytime to help you and your animals! I absolutely love caring for animals and it’s all I want to do! I have a pretty flexible schedule at the moment. I live in an apartment that is fenced in and on the bottom floor so your pet will be very safe! I do home visits as well!

About: Hi! I’m Channa, and I’ve been around dogs and cats my entire life. Caring for animals has always been something that comes naturally to me, and I genuinely treat every pet like they’re my own. ❤️ I’ve had dogs and cats since I was a little girl and have experience fostering dogs as well. I recently lost my own dog after 14 years together, so I know firsthand just how much our pets mean to us and how important it is to feel comfortable with the person caring for them. I currently have a 5-year-old Staffordshire/Pitbull mix with my boyfriend, so I’m very comfortable with bigger dogs, strong personalities, and all the quirks that come with them! I’m patient, attentive, and dependable, and I’m happy to follow your pet’s normal routine, whether that means a walk, some playtime, meals, medications, or simply keeping them company while you’re away. I’m available for walks and drop-in visits during the week after work hours, and I’d love the opportunity to get to know your pets and give them some extra love and attention while you’re away!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
