About: I’ve been caring for animals since my teenage years, giving me experience with dogs of all ages and personalities—from playful puppies and high-energy pups to sweet senior dogs. I also have extensive experience with cats and even bearded dragons! I’m comfortable with pets who are shy, anxious, independent, energetic, or extra cuddly. I take the time to learn each pet’s personality and routine so they feel comfortable and cared for while their humans are away. My goal is simple: happy pets, happy humans, and lots of tail wags and cuddles along the way! 🐾 Reliable care, lots of love, and a happy pet while you’re away! Pet care has been part of my life since I was a teenager, and caring for animals is something I genuinely enjoy—not just a job. I’m comfortable with everything from playful puppies and energetic dogs to senior pets, independent cats, and even small/exotic pets. I work my schedule around my clients, so I can give each pet the attention they deserve rather than making them feel like just another stop. I follow your routines and instructions closely and make sure your pets feel safe, comfortable, loved, and spoiled while you’re away. ❤️ Whether your pet needs a long walk, a quick check-in, some playtime, medication or special care, or simply someone to keep them company, I’m happy to help! Your pets are family—and I’ll treat them that way. 🐾 And yes… there will be plenty of pictures and updates for their humans! 📸❤️ I make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved whether I’m in their home or mine. That means feeding them on schedule, keeping their space clean, giving plenty of attention and play, and following any special instructions from their humans. I also give lots of pets, cuddles, and reassurance so they feel happy and relaxed while you’re away 🐾

Kaitlin did a wonderful job with our dog. I was nervous as this is the first time we’ve used her and she exceeded our expectations! She helped work on his behavior issues and kept me updated on how he was doing. I will be definitely using her anytime we go out of town!

Sydnee was a great house/dog sitter for my 2 dogs and my parent’s elderly dog. She gave many updates and sent lots of pics. It was a relief to know my dogs were getting lots of love and being spoiled and knowing my parents elderly dog was getting the care he needed. Can’t wait to have Sydnee come back! Thank you so much!!

About: I have had a dog since I was born! I have been around dog breeds from bassets to Belgian Malinois. I has cared for all kinds of animals from fish to horses! I have helped my mom who was a humane agent so medication administration is not an issue and I won’t charge extra for it! I currently only have a part time job with minimal hours so I have a very open availability. I hope to be able to give your pets all the love and attention I can! I am willing to walk your pups or your cat. I can administer medication as needed as well. I can house sit and will clean your house as well if needed.

About: As an experienced dog/house sitter who has rescued/fostered numerous dogs in the past 18 years and also a volunteer at my local animal shelter, I treat your family members as my own while they are in my care. I understand leaving your animals with someone can be very stressful not only for you but your furry family members. I don't mind staying in your home as I know some animals are more comfortable and less stressed in their own environment. I am a full time remote worker since 2020. I am very much a homebody who enjoys watching true crime shows, reading and doing puzzles. I like to get to know the owners and pets and stick to their normal routine as to not cause more stress for the animals while their owners are away.

Serenity was wonderful. So communicative and there for my animals around the clock. I had a friend drop out at the last minute and was unable to take care of our animals but serenity was ready to take care of them the second I reached out. She has done a great job of taking care of my dog pets needs and making me feel secure in her care. I would definitely recommend her and would love to use her services in the future!

Cassie stayed at our house to watch our babies while we were in Europe for 9 days. Our littles have had a lot of health issues this year and even though they are mostly stable now, we were nervous leaving them alone. Cassie made two visits to our house prior to our trip to make sure she understood all the details around their care. Thankfully there were no issues while we were gone. We returned to happy, healthy pets and a clean home. We are incredibly grateful to Cassie and will definitely use her services again in the future.

About: Hi there! I’m Chelsea. I’m a mature and responsible sitter. And I’m honored to care for your pets where they feel safest, in their own home. Since I work remotely, it’s easy to prioritize your pets. And they always come first while I’m in your home. I follow your instructions to the letter. This includes feedings, walks, medications and any special needs. We keep their routine stable while you're away. And with lots of pets and love. I will send you photos of what we're up to while you're away. We can even do video check ins. Lifestyle-wise, I’m an often-traveling, remote-working, yoga-practicing, rockhounding, jewlery-making, yoga therapist and writer. I'm very into yoga, coffee, reading, and rocks. I don't drink or smoke anything, including incense. And I strive to be as chemical-free as possible - including scents - so you won't have to worry about coming home to lingering scents of mysterious origin. I work as a writer remotely and part time. This makes it easy to prioritize your pets. They always come first while I'm in your home. I follow your instructions to the letter. This includes feedings, walks, medications and any special needs. We keep their routine stable while you're away. And with lots of pets and love. I will send you photos of what we're up to while you're away. We can even do video check ins

About: I have always cared for my friends animals when they are traveling and I also have had my cat Nola for 5 years. I’m also familiar with animals having anxiety and how to care for them by creating a routine that’s safe and fun. I have an open schedule currently so I’m open to flexibility during the day and some afternoons. I’m on break from my Masters program so my time is pretty open. I would make sure that any special needs your sweet baby needs is taken care of with extreme amount of love and care. I understand how important it is to be gentle especially when meeting new pets who might have anxiety.

About: I’ve been an animal lover my entire life and have over 30 years of experience caring for both dogs and cats. I grew up with cats and have spent the last several years loving my own Aussiedoodle, Scout. We recently lost our cat, and I truly miss those kitty cuddles, so I’d be thrilled to spend time caring for yours. Your pet’s safety and comfort will always be my top priority. I understand that every animal has a unique personality and routine, so I’ll carefully follow your instructions for feeding, medications, walks, playtime, and any special needs. About: We have owned our great Pyrenees mix for 8 years now, and have boarded our families dogs when needed. Our dog loves to have friends over. We are a flexible and loving home. My husband and I have jobs where we are able to work from home every day of the week, so your dog will be with a trusted sitter 24/7. We have a fenced in yard and plenty of room for a second dog. We routinely take walks with our dog and would love adding another.

FAQs for House Sitting - Abe

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 231 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Abe. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Abe walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Abe maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Abe choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Abe. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 87% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
