My family has a 9 year-old French Briard named Roland. He is wonderful, although old, sensitive, and neurotically anxious. He is skittish and often averse to strangers. Yet, during the brief couple of days that Elizabeth and I took care of him, he immediately warmed up to her. His reaction to her was far from surprising. Elizabeth was undyingly kind to him, bathed him with attention, and made it a priority to healthily exercise and play with him.
