By the end of the week, Gizmo was playing with other dogs and taking long walks twice a day, which he never does! I lost our beloved family dog about two years ago and I do not want to commit to raising another one since I like to travel. I frequently sit my aunt’s beagle mix who’s just a little old pup that sparked my interest for pet sitting cuz it was so fun to have visits from him. He and my old dog are in a bunch of my pics. With all animals I just try to make them comfortable and let them feel at home.
About: I’ve grown up around animals my entire life and have experience caring for dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, and more. I currently work as an enrichment specialist/dog handler at a dog daycare, where I supervise and care for dogs of all sizes with all kinds of personalities, energy levels, and needs. Before working professionally with dogs, I also spent years walking and caring for pets for friends, neighbors, and family. I’m comfortable with shy dogs, high-energy dogs, puppies, and senior pets, and I always focus on making animals feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. I’m very attentive to behavior, routines, and body language, and I genuinely enjoy spending quality time with animals instead of just rushing through visits or walks. Your pet’s comfort, safety, and happiness are my priority. I’m currently working part-time so I have lots of free time and space for your pup(s)! I am free every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with all day availability and flexibility! Your pet’s safety and comfort always come first. I have professional dog handling experience, pay close attention to behavior and routines, and have a fenced yard for safe playtime. Something I’d also prioritize are play breaks! Play breaks/rest for dogs are just as important as exercise, which is something most people miss!
About: As someone who grew up on a small farm, I have been around a variety of animals since birth. I have experience caring for a variety of species and am comfortable handling any animal. I have volunteered with local animal shelters for over a decade, so I also have extensive experience caring for pets with behavioral issues and medical needs. I am a part-time sitter who is providing pet care services in addition to my full-time work. However, as a professor at a local university, I have a very flexible daily schedule and can easily provide pet care during typical business hours. Additionally, I do not work in the summer, which increases my availability from mid-May to September. I am very intentional about the number of clients I take at a time to ensure that I can provide comprehensive care to booked clients. I believe open communication is most important to be able to provide safe and reliable care for your pets. During our meet and greet, I will ask many questions to ensure that I have a full picture of what caring for your pet requires and how to meet your expectations. As someone who uses a Rover sitter to care for my pets when I am away, I personally understand the trust that is needed to leave your pets in someone else's care. I strive to build trust with clients by showing up when I say I do and following all instructions provided to me. And, it is not just about building trust with you but also your pet! If your pet has any behavioral issues or quirks, it's important for me to know this so that I can ensure safety for your pet and myself. This will help me adjust my interactions with them so I can build trust with your pet and respect their boundaries. The more information I have, the better!

We have rescued all of our pets from shelters and I have loved their unique personalities, although sometimes challenging! Maebelle is skittish and crazy affectionate while Nina can be a bit of a bully and a sweetheart at the same time. They have brought a lot of joy to my house. I love big dogs, small dogs, mutts, and purebreds. If you interviewed my pets, they would tell you, "Melanie? Oh yeah, she's the best!" You can be assured your dogs will be in good hands with me.

By the end of the week, Gizmo was playing with other dogs and taking long walks twice a day, which he never does!
