She watched our girl, Zuki, for six days, and she texted us updates and a few photos until we felt reassured that Zuki was adjusting to a new environment well. Our dog is a rescue, and she has some strange behaviors such as being reluctant to drink water in the house (maybe because an alpha dog “claimed” the water dish at the rescue). Erin made sure that Zuki ate enough, drank, and she took her plenty of walks. What’s more, she cuddled Zuki to make her feel more at ease. Erin even ended up sleeping on the couch near Zuki to keep her company. I could tell that Erin was monitoring Zuki’s behavior bc she knew that Zuki has “fears,” and I was glad that Zuki had the opportunity to meet Erin with us present (so that our dog would be more comfortable and know that Erin was a friend). About: Since I was little I’ve taken care of many pets! People have relied on me when out of town many times for a puppy and older dogs. I’ve bathed dogs, cut their hair, given medicine, etc.. No matter what it says on here I am always taking new pets! Sometimes this app randomly changes my availability or accessibility. Please ALWAYS REACH OUT!!! About: From second grade until this past year, I grew up taking care of my maltese shih tzu everyday, named Ruby. She was certainly a very spoiled and loved dog! Since she passed just a couple months ago, it's been strange lacking the comfort and company that Ruby always provided me when I was alone- whether that was on long hiking adventures or just relaxing. In spite of her passing, and my overall affection for animals, I'm eagerly looking forward to finding new furry friends to take care of, play with, and join me on my walks! Growing up, I also frequently took care of my neighbor's dogs which gave me experience with all different breeds, sizes, and behaviors of dogs as well as cats. And aside from all my love for Ruby, she was definitely stubborn and picky so I have experience in dealing with difficult dogs, keeping patience, and figuring out how to accommodate each individual dogs needs and personality. Additionally, my sister has been on rover for years and has watched countless dogs and cats through this platform, and I've helped her out a lot, which has obviously provided me with the most relevant experience possible! I will be a junior at UW-Madison, but for now I am enjoying my summer in Madison without classes going on! Therefore, I have plenty of free time and so I'd love to fill it with caring for pets! Living at a prime location in the UW-Madison campus, and having easy access to my car means I can walk or drive to you and your pet and come to your home even if it's outside of campus. Whether your dog likes to loiter around every mailbox we pass on walks, or if they like to run, then I'm the dog walker for them! I'm happy to do a casual stroll and bathroom break, and just as happy to do long, multiple-mile walks. As I've gotten used to my whole life, I will always pick up after your dog and will make sure they stay safe and close to me by using whatever leash and collar you can provide. If you just need me to stop by to feed your pet and take them for a potty break outside, then I will happily pick up after them in the yard and after they are done eating. I grew up in nice home with a Mom who always taught me to keep things clean, organized, have good manners, and when at others homes to always leave things cleaner than how it was when I arrived. About: Hi! I’m Emily. 😊 And I’ve always been an animal lover. I grew up with multiple cats and dogs in my home. Friends and family have relied on me to take care of their pets when they’ve needed help over the last thirty years or so. I have also worked at a dog kennel where I walked and bathed dogs of all sizes and breeds. And I currently volunteer for the Humane Society where I interact with animals regularly. 😌 I provide doggy daycare - not overnight care - as my cat does not tolerate it well. And I work a 9 to 5 schedule Monday through Friday and I’m fully remote so I have plenty of time to regularly take dogs outside, out into my fenced in yard or to take them for both short and longer walks. I can dog sit any day though I do volunteer for the Humane Society on Friday evenings so they don’t work for me. Also, my rate is for six hours or less and then I charge an additional $5/hour for each hour after that FYI. I have a fenced in yard and can easily crate your dog if desired. I currently have one cat who has lived with a dog in the past, though I typically separate her in what I call her upstairs “kitty apartment” anyway. 😌 I provide doggy daycare - not overnight care - as my cat does not tolerate it well.

With three resident dogs—a 70 lb senior mix, a 2-year-old Boston Terrier, and a 1-year-old English Bulldog/French Bulldog mix—and all three started out as fosters who never left! I continue to foster regularly and work very closely with a local dog rescue, so welcoming another dog into our routine is something the dogs are very accustomed to. Dogs staying with us aren't spending the day alone waiting for someone to come home from work. I'm around throughout the day to keep an eye on everyone, accommodate individual routines, and provide plenty of attention (or a cozy place to nap, if that's more their speed!). Pet care is genuinely part of my everyday life, and I love it that way. Here, pets are treated like part of the family. My dogs are kennel trained, but they're also welcome throughout the home—including on the furniture and beds. I'm happy to follow your lead, though! If your dog sleeps in a crate, follows certain house rules, eats on a specific schedule, or isn't allowed on furniture at home, I'll do my best to keep their routine consistent. I live in a large apartment, so all outdoor time is supervised and on leash. I'm very comfortable with puppies and their extra needs, including frequent potty breaks, potty pads, crate training, and the general chaos that comes with puppyhood! I have extra crates that can accommodate dogs up to approximately 75–80 lbs, plus more dog beds and toys than any household probably needs. If your pet has food or environmental allergies, please let me know. I am very accustomed to managing allergies and am happy to follow specific instructions regarding food, treats, medications, or environmental triggers. Because your dog will share our home with my husband, middle-school-aged child, and our three resident dogs, dogs staying with us must be comfortable with older children, men, and other dogs. I take introductions and dog body language seriously and want every animal in the house—yours and mine—to feel safe and comfortable. While others do live in the home, I will be the caregiver for any other animals. For care in your home, I'll follow your lead. You know your pets and their routine best, and my goal is to keep things as familiar and consistent as possible while you're away. I'm also happy to care for more than just dogs during in-home visits—cats and other household pets are welcome, too! Whether your pet stays with us or I care for them in their own home, I'll treat their individual routine as exactly that: individual. Some pets want to be your shadow, some want nonstop playtime, and some would prefer that I serve dinner promptly and otherwise respect their personal space. I'm good with all three!

We have also looked after American pit bulls, a large Newfoundland, and senior doggies who have hip difficulties and special diets. Our own dog is a 3.5 year old Aussie-beagle, so we particularly love the herding dogs. :) We both have lots of experience working with dogs of all kinds of temperaments and needs, especially high energy dogs who require a lot of attention and care, and administering medication to dogs who have special needs. My Story: I've taken care of dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, ducks and the occasional reptile for friends and fam over the years. At age 10, my parents FINALLY agreed to adopt a dog, a shepherd hound mix that my bestie and I named while riding home in the van with the formerly "Belvie Joe" and a bag of Alpo. We were making up silly songs and combined the words to land on "Alphie." :) And as an adult, I am a second-time dog mom, as my former partner and I were lucky to have adopted the late, great Compay Pablito Bear, driving 6 hours to meet him and falling instantly in love. Those years in-between having a dog were rough! To fill the void, I rescued feral kittens, dog nannied for a cousin when she traveled for work, stayed at friends’ homes to watch pets while they were away, and leapt across traffic, lava and beds of nails to pet any dog in view! ;) [Sidebar: Thanks to the badass Detroit farmer Tuka who taught me how to hold a hen named Red, in Madison, I was able to carry a chicken named Poppy across the yard to her condo inside the coop in the rain. And one hot summer in the old meat packing district of Chicago, I was in charge of rabbits, ducks, hens and one very mean rooster.] I ask that your dog arrives with a collar that contains ID with name/contact, up-to-date rabies and city tags. And if your doggo has Dane County Dog Park tags + good park socializing experience, I’d love to take them with us on evening or weekend adventures. Meet and Greets Before dropping in to visit your cats or pick up a dog for walks, I will meet with you at your home and ask you to show me around. You can let me know which kitties are sneaky and which doors are tricky. Please be transparent about any concerns. If your pets are leery of strangers when you are not home, let me know this so we can strategize together. It’s important that we are all safe. If your cat does not like to be pet, but will engage with a dangling toy, great! Let me know this! If your pup is likely to run out of the crate and under the bed, let’s talk about how I can get the leash on in a way that makes them feel safe and not threatened. It’s all about love! Safety is important and I ask that parents don’t enter the yard, even if it’s your 100th visit. This eliminates any jealousy/resource guarding and subsequent behavior. In August 2024, I bought a house! It's a cozy space with a finished basement and huge fenced-in yard with a deck. The bigger space makes it easier for dogs needing quiet time away from others or to get their zoomies on. And as always, there's an endless supply of snuggles & scratches! No matter the critter, I'll happily refresh water, fill food bowls, administer medication, turn on fans, clean after their accidents, and fulfill other requests to ensure comfort. Look forward to meeting you! I am a freelance marketing writer and work from home, with flexible hours most days. I often have a dog or two draped around my neck or snuggled next to me—even during Zoom meetings! I do leave for up to an hour at a time to walk or transport dogs or drop in to care for cats. If I ever need to leave for more than a few hours, I make arrangements to have someone I trust drop in to let out the dogs. I fill my house with dog beds and furniture meant to share with the pups. Your babies can chase each other, dig for treasure in the spacious yard, or snooze and soak up vitamin D on the deck.
About: I’ve been in the pet care industry since I was 18 years old! I started in dog daycares and ended up in the veterinary industry as a vet tech/assistant. I have since moved back home and plan on going back to school to get into human medicine, but would love to still spend time with animals! I’m currently going to school online, so I have a lot of availability! I would require just 24 hours notice in order to pet sit or walk your furry child! Unfortunately, I cannot have animals at my house besides my own. I have experience in pet sitting at others houses and I can also clean!

“Erin was a wonderful, empathetic dogsitter! She watched our girl, Zuki, for six days, and she texted us updates and a few photos until we felt reassured that Zuki was adjusting to a new environment well. Our dog is a rescue, and she has some strange behaviors such as being reluctant to drink water in the house (maybe because an alpha dog “claimed” the water dish at the rescue). Erin made sure that Zuki ate enough, drank, and she took her plenty of walks. What’s more, she cuddled Zuki to make her feel more at ease. Erin even ended up sleeping on the couch near Zuki to keep her company. I could tell that Erin was monitoring Zuki’s behavior bc she knew that Zuki has “fears,” and I was glad that Zuki had the opportunity to meet Erin with us present (so that our dog would be more comfortable and know that Erin was a friend).
