“Larean took good care of our 19 lbs Terrier, who was handicapped at the time with a leg splint for a bone dislocation. She noticed a sore developing and sent me a photo of it. We conversed by text and agreed to use antibiotic ointment. She used good judgement in administering other as needed (PRN) medications. Additionally. she gave lots of hugs to my Teddy. I was surprised at how well Teddy got along with the other four smallish dogs, all of whom seem quite tame. At departure time, he didn't want to leave his new canine friends. I have already booked another stay for Teddy with Lauren.”

About: I’ve had two different dogs in my family since I was born. I have been responsible for feeding and cleaning up after my most recent dog. I graduated from the University of Denver and have spent 2+ months in the last year staying overnight to care for clients’ pets and homes. I am young and in fairly good shape, so I can run with dogs if requested! I have experience walking not only my dog, but various friends’ dogs. I get along well with all kinds of animals, but I am most familiar with dogs. Both of my family’s pets have been medium sized dogs, but I have done some dog sitting for both larger and smaller breeds. These span from Shih Tzu to Pitbulls to full sized Poodles. I typically walk 1.5-3 miles, so hopefully your pup will be tired out I make sure when I come in that there is enough water and/or food in the bowl, then promptly take them outside. About: I have worked with shelter dogs for about six years and I have had quite a bit of training on dog behavior, handling, and socializing. My past shelter job required me to become SAFER certified in order to do behavior assessments on dogs coming in. I have worked with hundreds of dogs with a wide variety of behavior issues. As the dog care lead for my last shelter I oversaw the care of up to 120 dogs at a time. Part of the dogs care included medicating, I am familiar with many common health issues and medications and am comfortable administering all forms of medications. I have one small dog of my own, a neutered male that likes other dogs. Right now I am only looking for like sized dogs male or female (20 pounds and under) or very calm bigger dogs to babysit. I live on a small dahlia farm - about two acres, unfenced. Dogs are allowed on the furniture and in bed but you can provide their bedding if you think they’d prefer it. While our house is being built we live in a 2 bedroom “mother in law”. It is small so not ideal for active bigger dogs right now. I only sit one dog at a time, unless the dogs come from the same household or they are known friends and okayed by both families. I have a small dahlia farm so I work from home! I have free range chickens and one senior dog. My typical day revolves around taking care of the animals and flowers. Right now our yard isn’t fenced but it’s a summer goal! I take the dogs for a walk in the morning and then out for potty breaks every couple hours after that.

At your house, I treat your space with the same level of care I give your pets. I’ll make sure the mail is brought in, your plants are watered, the house stays tidy, and the locks are triple checked. Because I work with rescued animals, I’m also very intentional about maintaining your pet’s routine to minimize any anxiety while you’re away. When we’re out, I’m hyper-vigilant about leash safety and harness checks. If your dog is a flight risk or just easily spooked, I have the experience to keep them focused, happy, and secure. My weekends are usually open for watching over your fur babies and sometimes during the work week. I work Monday -Thursday at my full time and have a three day weekend. My hours are 7:40am - 6:00pm with a two hour lunch which leaves me time to still check on pets. I definitely ask a lot of questions about your dog or cats routine and what they are used to so it’s not super stressful. I would love to get to know your pet first so they are used to me and aren’t scared. What kind of treats they like or if they have any restrictions.

My schedule is very flexible and I can accommodate your pet, whatever the need. When they are with me, they are welcome on the couch and bed or I will follow any instructions to keep your fur baby on their normal regimen. Every animal has different needs and I will make sure they feel comfortable and are well cared for. I am familiar with aggressive breeds and know how to handle all kinds of situations. I’ve also had a senior pet that required medicines and special foods. Whatever kind of care your pet needs, I can assure you I will treat them like my own. I generally only sit 1-3 dogs at a time (dependent on size) since I live in an apartment, however I will take them out often to make sure they get enough exercise and I will smother them with love if they will let me! We have a fully fenced 8 acre property with a four ft fence. Dogs are free to have access to entire property as well as free range indoors. We have a very comfortable home with a large wrap around deck and 5 exits. So it’s in/out all day as much as any dog wants/needs. It’s truly doggie heaven here and most people want to stay themselves when they drop off their dogs. We don’t care for more than 2 at a time.

Since Carly is a dog-reactive rescue with a traumatic history, and we have been working with a trainer, I am always reluctant to have someone new walking her. It's hard to be sure they will reinforce her training and ensure a calm walk, even if they encounter other dogs. Margaret made sure to understand and use the same equipment and commands and techniques we are using to give Carly the exercise she needed while my partner and I were sick. I would have no qualms having her house-sit and stay with Carly. I know she is trustworthy and genuinely cares about the animals she spends time with. I would highly recommend her for anyone, especially those who are nervous about their dogs with others. Carly is friendly and loves all people, and she has a little separation anxiety and more than a little territoriality around other dogs. And yet Margaret handled her expertly and lovingly, gaining both her trust and mine. She even suggested ways to help training progress with fewer treats and more praise as Carly improves her threshold around other dogs. Margaret not only came through on short notice, but she instantly built a relationship with both us and our dog which means she will be my go-to walker and sitter from now on.”
