“My sister and I were heading to Stowe with our dogs for a ski trip when we found out the house wasn't dog friendly. Oh no! Luckily we found Gwynn who lives close to Stowe. She only takes two dogs at a time which was perfect for my dog and my sister's since they're best friends! Gwynn was great with initial introductions with my somewhat skittish dog and her dogs. We were in contact with her everyday with photos and a video of them frolicking in the snow. She always responded quickly via phone or text. After picking them up, our dogs ended up sleeping the entire next day from having too much fun. My dog in particular did not want to leave Gwynn's chickens! I would highly recommend Gwynn, especially if your dog needs personal attention, lots of exercise and outdoor time.”

About: I've owned and taken care of dogs my entire life. I'm proud to be one of the first people friends and family call when a petsitter is needed. I love walking, and I love dogs. This seems like the perfect opportunity to exercise and get my animal fix! I'm currently working full-time Monday through Friday. I can do evening walks after 5:00 PM (as weather allows) and I can do weekends between 9:00 AM - 6 PM. My current apartment doesn't allow pets, but I can housesit on weekends or in the evenings if the location is somewhat close to my work in Waterbury. I'm a long-time vegetarian, and have always had an extra sensitive heart when it comes to animals. I think that earning an animal's trust is such a privilege and gift, and I honor that. I cannot house pets in my current apartment, but I will follow the guidance and knowledge of the owners in their homes and while on walks.

About: Grew up around dogs, my family has always had one in our lives. Feel I have a special bond with dogs, big and small, and rarely do I experience coming across a dog that does not warm up to me. Experienced in all forms of taking care of dogs, from walking and feeding, to playing and living with, sitting for family and friends both in their home and ours. I work full time from home but have a lot of flexibility during the day. Early mornings and evenings can be accommodated with simple planning. My family currently has an older female beagle who is sweet as can be, and very lazy. She is not aggressive towards other dogs and is fine being around dogs. We have three little children who are completely accustomed to having dogs present, and love to help with feeding and play time. We live in a small house but could accommodate 1 dog for short stays if need be, preferably small-medium sized (less than 40lbs). We do not have a fenced-in yard but live near a dog park and excellent areas for walking.

“Our 6-month old puppy has had 2 stays with Piper so far. She is amazing. Our dog is fearful of strangers and needs to warm up at his own pace (which can be extremely slow at times). Piper just knew how to handle him from the get go and went out of her way to make him feel comfortable. She even discovered things that our little guy likes that we did not know. Prior to his first stay, Piper spent quite a bit of time on the phone to get as much information as possible about Milo. She even made recommendations to make him feel comfortable. While he was anxious at drop off time, he was a happy little guy after his first experience there. At the second stay a week later, I left Piper's house with him licking from her hand and not really caring that I was leaving (a huge accomplishment given his fear level). And when I picked him up, he did not even come to the door - I guess he had forgotten about me and was happily chewing on a bone, all comfy on the rug. Piper is family no. 2 to our dog!”
“Totally thrilled with the stay! A perfect home for sensitive dogs - great people and a peaceful environment. Barbara and Darryll are warm, caring people and very responsive to my dogs needs, plus sent regular updates and pictures throughout the stay. My dog is a Belgian Shepherd and can be anxious and at times reactive, but she was relaxed and quiet while staying here. It was ideal because they were home with her most of the time and kept a consistent routine for her. She found her place on a couch by the window so she could watch the squirrels in the yard, just like at home. I felt safe leaving my dogs with such kind people, thank you Barbara and Darryll! About: I grew up with cats, both indoor and outdoor. In college I adopted my own cat who recently passed away at the age of 19. He was very healthy up until the last year during which time he needed special medication and some adjustments made to his living quarters. I recently adopted an adult cat named Angus and he has fit in with my dogs wonderfully! About: My schedule is flexible so I'm able to spend time throughout the day with your fur baby. I'm active and happy to play fetch for hours! I like to take puppers for multiple walks and give lots of love and pets. The clients I sit for like the fact they can contact me last minute and I'm generally able to adjust my schedule to be available. My schedule changes from week to week but feel free to contact me to double check my availability no matter the season! I like when clients leave me detailed instructions on what their pets normal schedules are, that way there's less stress put on myself and on your fur friend! I'm able to work from home most days of the week, this allows me to be available for all pet needs - morning, lunch time, and after work walks are a part of my daily schedule when we have a dog to take care of. I wouldn't trust anyone else with her. I followed him to Rover from the daycare he essentially started and was forced to shut down. And I will follow him when he starts his own. Now, my partner and I adopt old pets and care for them during their retirement. I love animals and will care for your pets as if they were my own. ****** PLEASE NOTE ****** that we have two dogs (an elderly deaf pug named Alice, and a senior terrier mix named Edie) and one cat. Our pets are friendly towards other dogs, cats, and people who come to visit/ stay with us. Please let me know if you have any concerns about your pet staying with our pets, or if they don't have experience with cats. We can discuss and ensure it'll be a good mutual fit. I am an educator at the local elementary school, and offer pet care services to neighbors and visitors to the area. My availability is generally flexible on the weekends, and can extend into the week on a case-by-case basis. I generally offer 3-4 walks per day, including one longer adventure to mountain trails, or another nearby, dog friendly destination. I'm happy to bring your pup to any of their favorite spots (within reason). About: I grew up with many animals, both my own pets, and animals on my grandfather's dairy farm (he was also a vet). I live in the country in Richmond, and have cats, young kids and animals Rover won't let me name in the description...but they provide eggs. We have dogs in our "extended family" and we are well accustomed to dogs but we do not have one ourselves at this time. If your dog is 100% safe with those people and pets and well-behaved, let's talk! Independently insured. We enjoy hosting dogs, and are home most days of the week for most of the day. We enjoy walking with dogs and playing fetch (if dogs like to do that) on our hill in our yard. We would need to do a meet & greet to make sure it is a good match. Our yard is not fenced, and we are on a dirt road in the country with woods on the property and surrounding it, so dogs should not be prone to bolting etc. They must be 100% safe with young kids, cats and free range egg producers. No aggressive or reactive dogs please.

About: When I was growing up my family always had dogs and cats. I have two dogs of my own (I have a senior shepherd mix and a 1.5 year old lab mix) as well as a cat. I work with middle school students during the school year and would love to spend my summer taking care of animals. My dogs are my priority so I can’t commit to overnights but with my days free this summer I would love to do some dog walking, house sitting and cat sitting. I work full-time during the school year but I have the summers off with plenty of free time to spend cuddling with some cats. I’d love to do dog sitting as well but am not sure I can commit to overnights as I have my own two dogs at home who need me but I’m open for daily support such as walks or feeding during the owners’ work hours. My dogs use a long lead out back and aren’t left unsupervised for long. When my cat was alive he had his own separate space away from the dogs as well as easier access to food, water and litter as he was arthritic.

About: I’ve been dog sitting since I was about 11 years old — it started with neighbors, family friends, and anyone who needed a hand, and it quickly became something I truly love. Being around dogs has always come naturally to me. I’m patient, calm, playful, and super intuitive with animals, especially dogs of all kinds. I treat every dog like they’re my own, and I make sure they feel safe, loved, and happy while their people are away. Over the years, I’ve built real trust with the people I’ve worked with. They know their dogs are in good hands with me — whether it’s for a quick walk or a whole weekend. I’ve looked after energetic puppies, shy rescues, older dogs needing meds, and everything in between. This isn’t just something I do — it’s something I genuinely care about. I currently go to barber school from 8:30-5 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. If you need a little check in or letting your dog out after that on those days I would definitely do that! Other than that I am open 6-11pm on every other day unless I have something else going on. If you ever need to know just always reach out if needed! I live in an apartment complex but I usually let me dogs free inside and if they need it I usually bring them to the dog park to get all that playfulness out. I am very attentive so your dog will never be left alone! I have 2 dogs medium size and one likes to relax while the other loves to play but she knows her limits, if the other dog does not like it she does stop.
About: I love dogs! I grew up with a little black poodle named Cherry who is 18 years old now and is featured here! I have been a dog walker for my neighbors whenever they needed in the past. Very comfortable with dogs of all sizes. I am a full time physical therapist/strength train consistently, so very comfortable handling bigger girls and boys. About: I have taken care of my family and friend’s dogs for years. I just found out about Rover from a friend who’s been on Rover for some time and she’s told me just how fun and rewarding it is, so I am giving it a go! I have a Yellow Lab of my own “Jader” who loves going for hikes and swimming in my pond. Currently I am very flexible and would be able to provide walks, pet sitting, and potentially be willing to board on a case by case basis. I look forward to where this Rover journey takes me! At the time I am in flight school which is part time and I have quite a bit of flexibility. So days and evenings are doable. I live on a 100 acre horse farm at the end of quiet dirt road so there is very little traffic. When you come by for the first time you will think this is doggy heaven. My Lab Jader is very easy going and gets along with most dogs. Of course before entertaining any boarding I would have to see how Jader gets along with your dog. Other than that I am used to walking and hiking in public areas so walking the rec path or going up the Pinnacle would not be an issue.
About: I promise to keep your fur baby safe and happy as can be while you're away. I will provide playtime, walks, cuddles and a lot of attention. I am very interactive and not afraid to be goofy in order to make a genuine connection with your pet. Don't be afraid to leave me detailed instructions- I get it and have fur and feathered babies of my own! I am able to walk up to 2 to 3 big dogs at a time and feel confident in my abilities to give commands and appropriate rewards/disciplines. If your pet(s) gets dirty, I will bathe them as well as clean up any messes that occur. I also will keep your home sweet home neat and tidy so you never come home to a mess. I have grown up with pets and have always owned one or two.. okay, maybe 3 at a time. I make genuine connections with animals (wild ones, too) and would love to give them the opportunity to get outside all season long (even in the winter). “My sister and I were heading to Stowe with our dogs for a ski trip when we found out the house wasn't dog friendly. Oh no! Luckily we found Gwynn who lives close to Stowe. She only takes two dogs at a time which was perfect for my dog and my sister's since they're best friends! Gwynn was great with initial introductions with my somewhat skittish dog and her dogs. We were in contact with her everyday with photos and a video of them frolicking in the snow. She always responded quickly via phone or text. After picking them up, our dogs ended up sleeping the entire next day from having too much fun. My dog in particular did not want to leave Gwynn's chickens! I would highly recommend Gwynn, especially if your dog needs personal attention, lots of exercise and outdoor time.”

About: Grew up around dogs, my family has always had one in our lives. Feel I have a special bond with dogs, big and small, and rarely do I experience coming across a dog that does not warm up to me. Experienced in all forms of taking care of dogs, from walking and feeding, to playing and living with, sitting for family and friends both in their home and ours. I work full time from home but have a lot of flexibility during the day. Early mornings and evenings can be accommodated with simple planning. My family currently has an older female beagle who is sweet as can be, and very lazy. She is not aggressive towards other dogs and is fine being around dogs. We have three little children who are completely accustomed to having dogs present, and love to help with feeding and play time. We live in a small house but could accommodate 1 dog for short stays if need be, preferably small-medium sized (less than 40lbs). We do not have a fenced-in yard but live near a dog park and excellent areas for walking.
“Our 6-month old puppy has had 2 stays with Piper so far. She is amazing. Our dog is fearful of strangers and needs to warm up at his own pace (which can be extremely slow at times). Piper just knew how to handle him from the get go and went out of her way to make him feel comfortable. She even discovered things that our little guy likes that we did not know. Prior to his first stay, Piper spent quite a bit of time on the phone to get as much information as possible about Milo. She even made recommendations to make him feel comfortable. While he was anxious at drop off time, he was a happy little guy after his first experience there. At the second stay a week later, I left Piper's house with him licking from her hand and not really caring that I was leaving (a huge accomplishment given his fear level). And when I picked him up, he did not even come to the door - I guess he had forgotten about me and was happily chewing on a bone, all comfy on the rug. Piper is family no. 2 to our dog!”
“Totally thrilled with the stay! A perfect home for sensitive dogs - great people and a peaceful environment. Barbara and Darryll are warm, caring people and very responsive to my dogs needs, plus sent regular updates and pictures throughout the stay. My dog is a Belgian Shepherd and can be anxious and at times reactive, but she was relaxed and quiet while staying here. It was ideal because they were home with her most of the time and kept a consistent routine for her. She found her place on a couch by the window so she could watch the squirrels in the yard, just like at home. I felt safe leaving my dogs with such kind people, thank you Barbara and Darryll! About: I've been taking care of pets for two decades and will love them like I love my own. I believe the best way to teach a dog is positive reinforcement and will work with whatever routines you have established with your furry family member. I work from home 3 days per week and the days are flexible except Thursday when I have to be at my office in Montpelier. I can go home on my lunch breaks for walks on the days I'm in the office (and you're close to Montpelier) and can work from your home if I'm housesitting and you have internet. As a gal in her 40s I'm pretty low key and will be very happy spending my time with your pet in your home or taking them on adventures if that's what they prefer. “We couldn’t ask for a better experience with Chad. Our family stayed in Smugglers’ Notch/Stowe area and our resort (if you do timeshare, you understand) doesn’t allow pets. We still wanted our dog close and finding Chad is awesome. He took the time to discuss ahead of boarding all necessary details about Pakun. He even asked for written notes and sent daily pictures and videos. We are kept updated especially with important details about our dog’s behavior. We could tell our Pakun was treated so well. Our English Springer’s hair was not tangled and he was clean when we picked him up. It is hard to believe since our dog has videos of walks, playing in the park and playdates with other dogs,he even did enrichment activities. Our dog is used to group boarding when we go on vacation, he usually comes back smelly and all tangled up. We are so pleased with our experience this time and we are so glad we brought him to have his own vacation with Chad.”
About: I’ve taken care of animals my whole life. I value the love you give to your babies, so I strive to do the same! I have taken care of a variety of animals and care for them as my own. I am experienced in administer medication and maintain a similar schedule to what you have. Research shows animals have less anxiety staying in their environment when owners are away. I strive to maintain that when you’re gone I work from home part of the time and travel the NEK the other part. I’m a social worker for my regular job but I am flexible with my schedule. I have days off on Sundays and Mondays to help with that. I follow as close to their normal schedule as you do. It helps with their anxiety and transition. If you walk them in the mornings, I will do the same. I prefer to watch animals in their home to make them more comfortable.
