About: I work full time at Shenandoah University and am joining Rover to formalize my side hustle, which Ive largely managed through word of mouth thus far. I’ve lived with dogs for about 25 of my 30 years of life - mostly hounds (most recently 2 bassets). And I’ve watched dogs of all sizes, the smallest being a chihuahua mix and the largest a Great Dane. Over the last 5 years or so, I’ve dog sat for friends, family, and connections in the Winchester area. The longest engagement was 6 weeks, but I normally do long weekends or week long jobs. All animals are different and I respect you, their owner, to tell me what’s best for your furry friend. I also will be transparent and over communicate with you so we both can be confident your animals have everything they need. I’m comfortable dispensing medication - including to the really picky ones (I can take a pill/pill pocket and sculpt it pretty much exactly the same shape and size as any mainstream kibble brand). I have experience with puppies and with our senior citizens, who both just need a little extra care and attention. I feel comfortable listening to animals and getting to know their personalities, which are all so different yet equally endearing. If they are trying to say something, though, I feel pretty confident I will notice it - especially after we’ve spent a few hours together. And, if they’re trying to say something and I don’t understand? I’ll reach out just to make sure. I just really, really love animals. I most often watch dogs but have also cared for cats, lizards, bunnies, chickens, and horses (although horses were largely just feeding and brushing/attention). I also have a rescue cat of my own, Luna, who has made me certain I’m equally a dog person AND a cat person. I work 9-5 M-F, and occasionally am tied up on weekends with happenings on campus. I can take an hour lunch (and flex a bit beyond if necessary) to visit the animals for attention and potty breaks. I am single, sober, and genuinely grateful for the work and the company. Animals have so much love to give, and i try to reciprocate that love indiscriminately. About: I've always had a love for animals and love working with them! I've grown up with dogs and love to be around them. We knew our senior dog Ginger would likely be stressed: 1st from the trip, and 2nd to be left with a stranger, in an unfamiliar environment. Linda really seems to love the dogs, she had 1-2 fosters there when we arrived (not sure, as I think I only saw 1). While I'm sure it was hard on both of them, we do sincerely appreciate her taking on our dog for a few hours, so that we could attend the wedding of an old family friend. I'm a safety first kind of person when it comes to our kids. So I tend to lean on the side of caution and extra equipment when interacting with most dogs. I always keep extra dogs supplies in my truck at all times as I have been known to that guy who stops traffic to try to rescue a dog. I've done this probably 6 or 7 times.
About: I am a husky lover and owner who has spent most of my life taking care of dogs! I am 30 years old and have grown up taking care of beagles as well as pet sitting for family members and neighbors. Now, I currently have two huskies, ages 3 and 1. I enjoy long walks with my pups and lots of play time! On the weekends, I enjoy taking my dogs on long hikes, taking them to the dog park for some play time and even runs on the beach. My huskies are friendly with dogs their size and love making new friends. They also have spent time around cats and although they avoid playing, they do love other furry friends. My energetic attitude and love for animals makes me the best match for the job.

About: Hi there, My name is Melissa and I work from home which allows me to have a very flexible schedule. l am a very active person who absolutely loves all sorts of fur babies, especially dogs and cats. I enjoy having the ability to interact with them on a daily basis. I currently have one fur baby of my own, Roxy (13 yo Jack Russell), but I have been around all types of animals since I was little, and I can't imagine my life without them. “Gabby took great care of my Bonnie girl while we were away on vacation. She asked good questions during our meet and greet. I am so glad that she was willing to have Bonnie as the only dog in the house for the majority of the 2 weeks we were away. Bonnie doesn't get along with many other dogs, so when her stay overlapped with another dog that was there for a couple days before her, Gabby immediately let us know and was prepared to keep them separated. Gabby gave us frequent updates and pictures that helped reassure us that she was doing well. All of the instructions I left for her feeding were followed exactly as well. I am so grateful that we were able to enjoy our vacation knowing that Bonnie was being taken care of as if I were there myself.”

“If you're ever looking for a place for your fur kids to stay while you go out of town, I highly recommend Laura. I have 2 neurotic cats; 1 has CH that does not like getting confined in crates/small place and the other is spicy/moody. The stay was short with a (somewhat) unusual request, but Laura took them all in stride and went the extra mile to look after Sam and Cloud. Definitely one of my best rover experience and would not hesitate to ask her again in the future.”
