About: All my life, I have been around dogs. I currently have a sweet boy, Winston, who is a Pit Mix. I’ve had several different dogs over the years and have assisted family and friends with pet care. I also have previous work experience with a pet boarding and grooming facility in Baton Rouge. From having experience in a professional setting and having experience caring for pets at home, I find the at home care to be much more comfortable for the pet- which is why I decided to register here! I love making the pets and their owners feel as comfortable as possible. A personal touch- I like to take funny/cute pictures of what we do and send them to you once I’ve completed the service! I currently have two dogs that I watch for my mother. When I am in town, this looks like walks every afternoon and evening, frequent play time, and feedings. About: I currently have a bloodhound and 4 cats, as well as a foster dog. My had my last dog for 15 years, so I am very experienced in senior dog care. Old doggos have a special place in my heart. I am self employed so I have a fairly flexible schedule so I can usually work around anything that might be needed or come up. I have a fenced in yard as well as a doggie door so dogs have constant access to the back yard. I also walk dogs 1-2 times a day.

About: To comfort any animal brings comfort to myself. I have experience with all kinds of pets and love all animals but cats are what you’d find in my home. It’s a common misconception that cats don’t require much attention but as a domesticated animal they thrive on human companionship while also having many natural instincts to accommodate. Some require more attention than others depending on their personality. One of the most important instincts to satisfy is the need to hunt/play. There are some automatic or interactive toys that work well but for the most part the best toy is something on the end of a string attached to a wand/rod and their human’s participation. This way you can mimic the evasive movements of an actual prey for your cat to hunt. This provides exercise and stimulation and I would be happy to play with your cat(s) I’m very good at befriending anxious or less trusting cats and identifying the things that exacerbate their anxiety and finding solutions to comfort them. I also have experience administering medications. With a cat the easiest route of administration is a liquid solution mixed in with some wet food or treat or squirted into the back side of the mouth with an oral syringe. Giving a cat a pill can be more difficult but it can be done. I would wrap them in a towel or blanket, lubricate pill so it doesn’t stick to fingers or tongue, tilt head back and insert pill into back of the mouth, return head to level position and rub their throat and/or slightly blow on the nose to stimulate swallowing reflexes, then give them a treat and love them! When possible I scoop our 3 cats’ boxes after every use. I’m happy to clean and scoop your cat’s box(es) with the same vigilance. A clean litter box is one factor in ensuring a healthy and happy cat!

“Rachel is a great sitter. I left my pup with her on two occasions - once for a weekend and another for an 8 day trip. She did an amazing job with her and I could tell my dog had a great time. She sends daily updates and photos which is greatly appreciated. More importantly Rachel is super understanding and was able to be flexible with me when my return flight was delayed and cancelled. I will definitely keep using her as my sitter anytime we go out of town - 10/10 would recommend!”

About: All my life, I have been around dogs. I currently have a sweet boy, Winston, who is a Pit Mix. I’ve had several different dogs over the years and have assisted family and friends with pet care. I also have previous work experience with a pet boarding and grooming facility in Baton Rouge. From having experience in a professional setting and having experience caring for pets at home, I find the at home care to be much more comfortable for the pet- which is why I decided to register here! I love making the pets and their owners feel as comfortable as possible. A personal touch- I like to take funny/cute pictures of what we do and send them to you once I’ve completed the service! I currently have two dogs that I watch for my mother. When I am in town, this looks like walks every afternoon and evening, frequent play time, and feedings. I love to make sure they are happy- whether that’s running around outside, long play time, some chill TLC, or even a few extra treats ;)
