So I selected Heather bc of her vet tech background and her “no-fear” technique training. Heather did an overnight stay to start build rapport for an upcoming longer vacation. Much to my surprise, both cats took to Heather right away. Her fear reduction techniques worked well. I could not believe the chummy photos she was sending me on her first stay! Also there was an unexpected wrinkle in my cat’s normal regimen, and Heather handled it as I would have if I were home. I could rest easy. About: I LOVE cats! Animals are great, but cats are the best! I spent a large portion of my volunteer time socializing feral cats, medicating them, trying not to get ringworm (success!!), cleaning them, and up after them. I have gained priceless knowledge from my experience with years of caring for cats. My three babies have also given me a deeper (and more expensive) experience on ownership. Two of my three cats require daily medication. This has helped me learn the ways to administer medication to nice and naughty cats. One of my cats developed pneumonia as a kitten and has had asthma/ chronic respiratory problems since. I’ve become vigilant in looking for signs of distress, discomfort, or unusual behaviors in cats as they are often silent sufferers. I have also become VERY adept at cleaning as my youngest cat requires multiple baths a day as a kitten (so did his litter box). I am able to help with daily grooming for longer hair cats to keep their hair mat free and lush. With permission (from the cat) I can also help clip nails! Most importantly I can give lots of love, snuggles, and kisses!!

There was a nice yard and Falco was able to roam around to his heart’s content. Falco is a big boy and Misael and his family treated Falco like their own. About: I grew up with black lab mixes, having at least one dog in the house all the time. I helped to raise two of the family black lab puppies through 15 years and care for the next generation, a 2 year old black lab/border collie rescue pup, teaching her to sit and lay down. I’ve cared for all kinds of dogs over the past few years, learning patience from puppies, strength from sweet old ladies, and the careful nuance that comes with leash aggressive rescues. I now have an adopted a rescue greyhound in the family. She loves new friends but is also perfectly happy cat napping wherever her bed lands. Happy to host or walk, with or without her company. I’m full time at home and so I am free to do breaks and provide limited entertainment between meetings, which are never more than 1.5h. Greyhounds react particularly poorly to negative feedback and punishment, so patience and focus on pawsitivity (particularly treats) is a standard with me.

About: My partner and I have been caring for animals from bunnies to horses for our entire lives. Friends and family have relied and continue to rely on us to walk, feed, and board their pets. We do this because we love the companionship pups! Pets will be carefully looked after by my partner and I. They’ll be preoccupied daily with loads of activities! Our dogs start the day by zooming and playing in our fully fenced in yard. Throughout the day we practice commands and do various activities. Here, we love dog puzzles and mentally and physically stimulating activities! Our house is pet friendly with plenty of space to play inside or out, depending on the weather. We also have pets of our own, who are very high energy and playful! We prefer gradual introductions to keep everyone calm and safe so your dogs will not meet ours during initial meet and greets. They’ll likely only meet ours if they stay multiple times or for more than 3 days. Entering a new environment or being cared for by someone new can be stressful for pets so we pay close attention to how each pet responds and acts and make sure to cater according to their individual needs, giving them space or activities as needed. Your pet will be loved, safe, and well cared for while they are here!

About: I have had dogs my entire life and currently have a sweet 7 year old Yorkie mix who is definitely the center of our household. If your pup is used to a home where they get lots of attention, then ours is the right fit. I volunteer with the Hotel for Homeless Dogs in Cumberland and understand the patience and love dogs need when with someone new or in an unfamiliar place. I’m a teacher so my summers and weekends are relatively free and I would love to spend some of July and August caring for your pup. During the summer, I usually take my dog Petey on about 4 walks a day and would love to bring your pup along as well. I do only take small- medium sized dogs as Petey can sometimes be intimidated by larger breeds. I live with my husband and stepchildren who have had dogs all their lives and understand how to be around them. I have an unfenced yard and live in a quiet neighborhood. I love going for dog walks and you can be assured your pup will be outside for a good portion of the day. I can crate your dog if you like, but we don’t crate our own.

Our situation was a little unusual because my cats and I have been displaced from our home due to a mold issue, and one of my boys, Jack, had already been experiencing health symptoms. I was also leaving for a weekend, so this was my first time ever dropping my cats off with a sitter instead of having someone stay in my home. Needless to say, I was pretty anxious. Seeing them so relaxed and comfortable made an incredibly stressful time so much easier. Olivia cared not only for my cats but also for me.
