About: Although we are new to the area, we are definitely not new to caring for dogs. We recently purchased the well-known dog kennel in Smithsburg and are in the process of restoring it. One of the things I’m most proud of is the therapy work I did with my dog. I trained and certified her as a therapy dog, and for 10 years we volunteered together in hospitals and nursing homes. That experience actually inspired my career path, and I went on to become a certified occupational therapist. My sweet therapy dog has since passed away after a long and wonderful life. She was incredibly special to me. I’m now starting that journey again with my new puppy, Merango, and hope to continue therapy work in the future. Right now I’m taking some time away from my occupational therapy work to focus on renovating and restarting the kennel. It’s something I’ve always dreamed about doing, and I’m excited to bring new life to a place that so many people in the community already know. I also have experience caring for senior dogs and dogs with medical needs, including giving medications like insulin injections. My goal is to give dogs a peaceful farm stay with plenty of space to move, fresh air, and a consistent routine so they feel comfortable and relaxed while they’re away from home I understand how much trust it takes to leave your dog in someone else’s care. At one point, we had a household full of animals ranging from a rambuctious German Shepherd to a teeny tiny Leopard Gecko and Corn Snake. I enjoy walking leash trained dogs, playing with them and cuddles as well as head boops & cuddles with cats too. About: I’ve taken care of dogs ever since I was a kid, and I have experience with taking care of many different breeds, young and old. I love animals and will do everything I can to make yours comfortable and happy. Work is currently slow, so I have the time to give your pets all the attention they need. I am available anytime throughout the week and most weekends. I have two friendly dogs that would love to keep yours company. I do not have a fenced yard, but walk them on my private lane often, and take them to the dog park. My pets get fed twice a day, but I can feed yours as often as you’d like - they also have some treat throughout the day.
