About: I have had pets, mainly dogs, my entire life and I have a true love for animals. I have been pet sitting for friends and family for over 6 years. I have recently joined the Rover community and I am excited for this new experience! I do work a part-time job so my availability often differs by the day but I still have plenty of time for pet care! The earlier I am requested and care is planned out, the better I will be able to adjust my schedule to your needs! I have plenty of experience caring for pets, majority dogs, in their own home and my goal is always to make them feel comfortable in their space! About: What sets me apart is my experience and flexibility. I started pet sitting in college and have always loved caring for animals. I am not formally trained in pet CPR, but I am trained in human CPR and have looked at videos for pet CPR. For extended care, and distance further than 5 miles, I prefer be given the option to stay over at clients for the sake of gas costs, time, and energy. First meeting and approach are important to setting a precedent, I first see if the pet will approach me. I like to offer my hand palm down for them to smell. Sometimes it takes a few times smelling the hand before they feel comfortable letting me pet them. In my opinion it’s important not to mess up first impressions with the pet. “If I could give Amanda 10 stars I would. We love our dogs and there is certainly a level of anxiety that goes along with leaving them for a period of time. Upon meeting Amanda we were immediately put at ease. She is very easy going and it's obvious right away how much she cares for her animals. We left our two dogs with her for 10 days. Each day we got updates and lots of pictures. We were able to relax while on vacation knowing they were in good hands. The "transactional" part of working with Amanda was super easy - she's communicative and very open with her schedule. If you reach out she responds right away. No issues whatsoever. She'll absolutely be our first call from now on! I could not recommend her higher.”
