About: I grew up with dogs and once I started my own family, over the years we welcomed three dogs and two cats into the mix. With my kids having flown the coop, I have time, energy, and lots of love to give! For three weeks in July, I will be living at our home in Columbus, Oh and be available for drop-in visits and dog walks. Eventually, we will be living here full time and I would love to have some Ohio puppy friends:-) During the school year, we live in Alexandria, VA and I coach a variety of sports throughout the school year which keeps me busy later in the early afternoon and early evenings for a few hours during the week. About: Being a senior makes me old school, like being exactly on time or a bit early. I subscribe to the Dog Whisperer tenet of being ALPHA and pack leader to dogs in my care. A dog in a pack is a happy dog. I only use positive reinforcement. Ex.: dog pulling on the leash can be fixed by changing directions every 4 steps to the left, walking in a square, this encourages the dog to slow down and watch his human. Dog hair is a welcome addition to a life well lived, that's why my dogs get furniture and bed privileges. One fact about my dogs i pay attention to is how many sips of water they take. On a very hot day I've seen 30-40. This helps me know easily how my pet is feeling so I can react accordingly. Maybe time to put the soft Frisbee away! I'm fully retired, and rise early, so morning walks are easy. Breakfast is next, and 1hr later another walk outside. I like to prep a bag to take to the park. My fav is Schiller Park in German Village. I don't own a pet currently, I've had some health issues that are now resolved. Having been an owner twice in my life has given me many many experiences so I am flexible.
About: Hi!! I have a deep love for dogs and have grown up with them my whole life of all ages! I got my first dog in high school and was I was 100% responsible for her and raised her from a puppy until she was 4 years old until I had to go to college and couldn’t bring her with me. I miss her so much so I thought this is a great way to fill that void! I have experience with different breeds as well, and I have dog sat for some of my friends and family in the past! I'm working part-time, so I have plenty time to visit, walk or stay with your pets. I'm not picky about the time of dag and can work over the weekends. Since I've had many pets I realise it takes time for some animals to adjust to a new person while others are very loving right away. I'd make sure to take into account your own dogs personality when interacting with them and the rules you keep for them.
