“I would like to start by saying, in general I am a skeptical person who does not trust people with my dog because like others, my dog is my child. With that being said, I needed a dog sitter short notice while I went on a family vacation to Africa and prior arrangements fell through. Hesitant, I knew that a sitter would be best for me because I didn’t like the idea of boarding him at a facility. My dog weighs 4 lbs and is still a puppy, he seeks love and companionship. While scrolling through Rover I found Diane and I am happy I did. She was amazing in every aspect. She kept me posted about my dog with text, videos, and pictures several times throughout the day. She gave him sooooo much love and affection, responded fast and answered any questions I might have. She was very accommodating to me and Kobe. She treated him like he was her dog. I’ve also worked full-time for a year at a veterinary pharmacy, and part-time as a kennel assistant at a dog and cat daycare where I mostly boarded, walked, and socialized with the dogs. I love animals, and want to give them the best care because that’s what they deserve! I unfortunately am only available until August, but my schedule over the summer is very flexible. The only day I am strictly unavailable are Sundays, but otherwise from 11am-7pm I am free. Check-ins will include checking their food/water, general status, and of course, playtime! Any instructions that the owner leaves will be followed and photos of the pet will be sent to the owner during check-ins.

About: Hello! My name is Julissa. I have so much love for all pets and animals. Growing up, i’ve always had a dog in the house, and they were always such an important member of our family. It’s been about five years since I’ve had a dog of my own. My last dog’s name was Sasha. We adopted her when she was six and had her until she was about thirteen. She was so smart, loving, and anxious when we first got her so our first few years together were spent establishing trust. Eventually we managed to off-leash train and we worked a lot on her recall so that we could enjoy longer walks and outdoor activities while ensuring that she always felt safe in her environment. At home we set her bed up in the kitchen, where we would pass our time cooking and spending a lot of quality time together. I had so many good years with my Sasha, and since she passed I have genuinely missed spending time with animals on a consistent basis. Since then, most if not all of my friends and family have entrusted me with taking care of their animals when they are busy or traveling, so I’ve had a lot of experience with many different pets and their varying needs/personalities. I work freelance as an artist. I am a musician, so I often stay at home practicing or composing. However most of my work is in the film industry, and this work ranges from smaller independent projects to network television. Although I do work on set sometimes, I try to take on as many post-production gigs as possible, so I often find myself sitting behind a desk all day. I have always made it a priority to work in a field that I am passionate about, and my decision to work with Rover has been no different. Caring for animals is not only something I am passionate about, but also a wonderful opportunity to go on walks and spend quality time with pets. “Stacie is a Godsend! We had the opportunity to take a trip to Costa Rica with just 48 hours notice. We were incredibly lucky to find Stacie: We would never have gone abroad unless we found someone great. Stacie provided us with two references, both of whom were thrilled to report she did a fantastic job with their pets: They said she was always on time, posted lots of photos and was incredibly respectful of being inside their homes when no one was around. That was actually my primary concern about hiring someone I did not know: It’s pretty difficult to leave your house keys with a stranger. But Stacie was wonderful. She was incredibly responsible. We took this trip just a few days ago (mid-January 2022) when the city was pounded with a terrible snowstorm. Despite the awful weather, Stacie kept her appointment: She told us in advance that she might be an hour or so late because the blizzard left the roads unnavigable. But, clearly, she made it a priority to check on our two beloved Birman cats: She came just a couple of hours later. I’m sure that was difficult considering the weather, but we truly appreciated it. About: For the past 4 years, I have volunteered at an animal shelter where I worked with both dogs and cats. With dogs, I have experience with all ages, ranging from 5 week old puppies to senior dogs. I have walked and played with dogs who were the most outgoing and loving dogs, as well as the more fearful ones who needed a little extra attention before opening up to me. I have received training in understanding dog behaviors as well as how to interact with more stressed and fearful dogs, leaving me confident to care for all types of dogs. I also volunteered to take some dogs out of the shelter for one night and care for them at my apartment so they can destress out of their kennels, which gave me experience house sitting multiple types of dogs. With cats, often times at the shelter I would play with them in their cages, or I would take them out the cage and hold onto/pet them to help relieve their stress and get them accustomed to humans. At home I also have 2 senior pets I care for, a 12 year old Brittany dog and an 11 year old cat. They’re both incredibly sweet and remind me every day why I love caring for animals. We have three kids, all friendly with dogs. The oldest graduated from college recently (piano teacher),9th and 6th grader. We only board one dog these days and never leave the dog at home alone. Safety is our priority and we watch and always keep company with the boarding dog.I will send you pictures and updates every day and my husband loves to play and we also love to walk at least one hour a day. My oldest son can help from time to time. My youngest son loves to play with your dog, playing tugs and throwing balls in his free time. . We had a beautiful golden retriever, Boku who died of cancer 7years ago. He taught me lots of things about dogs also helped me understand them. Since April 2022, We have so far taken care of over 50 dogs successfully, through Rover. Our home is located in a quiet neighborhood, but close to Northern Blvd, Little Neck LIRR station and trails. We have a small backyard as well. How we feed your dog: You bring your dog’s food. I’m happy to boil chicken and rice if they don’t have appetite, under your permission. We consider our furry guests as our own and respect each of their differences. And we are confident that we can provide a comfortable environment while you are away. We stay home all days (stay-home mom and work-at-home husband), so dog care fits our schedule as needed. I love to walk with dog and your dog will be center of attention, always keeping company with our family routine. Your dog can choose their favorite spot wherever they want. You can bring their bed or crate. Some like to share the couch with us. We have small backyard where we can chill out in Summer days.

About: I understand how nerve wracking it may be to leave your pet with someone new. Thankfully, I am here to assure you that your dog will be reliably taken care of while you are away. I am more than happy to arrange a meet and greet and will send multiple updates and photos throughout your dog's stay so you can enjoy your vacation and time away from your pet at ease! I've taken care of many friends and family dogs throughout the years when their owners would go on vacations. I have experience taking care of multiple dogs at once where I walked them, played, and fed their pets for many weeks. I finally found my forever furend, Romeo who is now a 7-month-old pomsky! Romeo is playful and loving. He will be a great companion to your furry friend during their stay with us! I am working from home and I am very flexible on taking your pets on walks throughout the day. I have a private rooftop I can bring them to, a nice quiet neighborhood area to walk around and there is a dog park 25 minutes away. Any and all instructions you leave for me will be followed with the utmost care to keep your little buddy happy! My daycare services are from 9 am - 6 pm daily; the cut-off time for boarding services is by 6 pm daily. My dog-friendly apartment building has a private balcony where your fur baby can enjoy the fresh breeze throughout the day. I also have an amazing, beautiful rooftop that has fake grass where your pet will enjoy running around! I have provided a photo of the gorgeous private rooftop below. I have a spacious 2 bedroom apartment that is clean, mopped, and vacuumed daily. Your pet will have a private and quiet area to rest and spend their day happily!
