Astrid is usually quite anxious when she’s first introduced to a new person and a new environment, but she appeared to be more at ease much quicker with Kate at her house than she typically is. Kate sent us regular pictures and updates, was very flexible about our schedule for pickup and drop-off, prompt and easy to communicate with, and we didn’t worry about Astrid at all. We will certainly reach out to Kate again when planning future boarding accommodations for our sweet Astrid.”

About: I’ve worked in animal welfare for 20 years and have experience with every size, breed and need! I’m comfortable administering medication and most importantly, I love animals so much that I’ve dedicated my life to them :). I work full time from home. I have flexible hours and usually go on several walks around my neighborhood a day. The longest I’d be away from home ranges from 2-4 hours and that can be adjusted based on your pets’ needs. I have a fenced yard and lots of love to give! There’s plenty of space in my house for crate(s) and I also welcome dog snuggles if they are allowed to sleep in the bed. I don’t have any other pets in the home but have lots of friends with dogs if yours likes the company.

About: Hello! My partner and I have dog-sat for friends many times, but the request doesn’t come frequently enough! We’re happy to host your pet and treat it as if it were our own. We work nearby our apartment and can walk your dog during the day. We are fine with pets on our furniture and in our bed, but will respect any training you have in place. We’ll joyfully take your pet on long walks and adhere to feeding schedules. I have trained my family dogs in the past, and are happy to teach your pup a few new tricks! We ask for well-behaved, house-trained dogs OR crate-trained provided you have a crate. About: I didn’t get to experience the joy of growing up with dogs or cats but as soon as I was able I began taking in fosters from the NYC shelter system. It was quite a learning experience spending time with many dogs (and a few cats) of all different types and personalities. I no longer foster but I bring the experience and dedication from working with so many shelter pets to caring for your furry family members. And as a pet parent now myself I have been through many sitters so I understand what makes a good one! A note on boarding and meet and greets: I’m happy to have boarding candidates come by to meet me and check out the space but I do not do meet and greets with my own dogs. My dogs are dog friendly but they are too chaotic and excitable to meet new dogs and owners right away. New dogs are kept separate at first and introduced at their own pace when everyone is calm. This minimizes stress for everyone and allows for better interactions. I currently work out of the house Monday/Wednesday/Friday but my schedule is somewhat flexible. The rest of the week I work at home and I am often available all weekend. Dogs in my home have access to a securely fenced large yard for running and fetch, as well as a quiet neighborhood for walks. If the weather is warm dogs have access to a dog door so they may go outside as they please. If your dog likes to play with other dogs mine will certainly be happy to accommodate but they can also have separate spaces if quiet time is needed. In your home I will make every effort to keep your pets schedule as familiar as possible while offering lots of love and stimulation. As someone who has had many sitters come through and stay at my house I understand the importance of trust and cleanliness so you can be away without worry.

In 2025 I completed the "Pet Sitting, Training, Grooming Microcredential" at SUNY Ulster. The Microcredential included the following classes; Pet CPR & First Aid, Behavior Medicine for Animals, and Restraint and Handling. As of 11/01/2024 I am certified in Pet CPR by RECOVER and ACVECC. And as of 02/23/2025 I have a certificate of Completion in the Fear Free certificate program by Fear Free Leaders in Animal Wellbeing. I am currently a student at SUNY New Paltz and as it is now summer break i am available 24/7. When I am not in New Paltz I live in Kingston with my parents and two cats, Pilot and Trixie. I will make sure your pets get lots of play time while you are away. I can take pets on walks, water plants, get mail, clean up messes, etc depending on what you need. And I have no problem complying with any weird quirks your pets have. (My cats have some very specific games they like). About: I have taken care of animals my whole life - from family pets, to pets of my own. I love all animals. We do not deserve them, but I do my best to earn their love every day. I truly enjoy providing them with all the love and safety they need. I have cared for small, medium, and large dogs. I cared for my sweet German Shorthaired Pointer (Hunter), who had cancer. Now I shower my young Aussie Mountain Doodle puppy (Selena) with love every day, teaching her to learn and grow, and brushing her constantly so her doodle fur does not get matted and she stays looking beautiful. I have fully potty trained her, she has learned a few commands, and with my guidance, she is getting better and better at walking on her leash. I also have two amazing senior kitties (Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin). They make me smile everyday. They are 14 years young, so they have started to have some slight health decline (cataracts, arthritis, hyperthyroidism), so I have gotten better and better at senior cat care. One of my kitties requires a pill twice a day, so I am an expert at administering pills to cats as well. I am also very good about making sure they have the freshest litter and litter boxes. I even house their litter boxes in special enclosures to give them privacy and a place of their own to do their business. From caring for my own pets, to feeding the squirrels and birds in my backyard, to rescuing stray cats - my love for animals knows no bounds. All animals deserve love, and I promise to care for you pets as if they were my own ❤️ I work full-time for a non-profit, but I work from home 3 days a week and only go into the office 2 times a week. This means I have some flexibility in my schedule on week days. On weekends I am wide open! At my home, I have a routine with my animals. They are fed right around the same times everyday, they are given fresh water twice a day, my one cat gets his medicine at the same time twice a day, and they all get a lot of pets and some treats daily as well. My puppy gets at least 2 walks a day, some swim time if the weather is nice, and A LOT of play time with her many toys every day. My cats do not like to play much now that they are older, but I do my best to keep them active with the few toys they show interest in. I have also converted my back porch into an enclosed catio in order to fulfill their dreams of being outdoor cats! In your home, I would utilize my stellar attention to detail in order to carefully follow your guidance. That way I can keep your pet(s) on their usual routine as much as possible so that they are as comfortable and feel as safe as possible. I am also a wonderful and thorough communicator, so I would ensure you were fully aware of everything so that you can feel comfortable as well.

I started taking care of neighbors' pets at an early age and though we only had fish and birds and a cat at home, dogs and other animals became a special love of mine. I have been cat, dog, bird and other little furry friend sitting for over four decades and have done so for several years as a 5 star sitter on Trusted Housesitters. I love making new furry friends, both for sharing my positive, attentive energy with them, and for nourishing in the innocent sweet playfulness they often offer. The mutual benefits of animal care are no joke! As an avid traveler and travel writer (we social workers need periodic breaks from our big jobs), pet sitting has been a fabulous win-win-for-all! I love immersing in local scenes, and enjoy getting to know the nature, infrastructure, and pulse of new places. Perhaps most importantly, I love hunkering down for writing (I am a published writer in addition to being a social worker) with the delightful energy of furry friends beside me. They seem to like it too! I grew up in a small city, have lived in a major city for over two decades and LOVE being in more rural and remote areas too. You can count on me to bring my strong sense of professionalism and responsibility to your pets and to your home. I’ve often been told that other than happy pets, there was no sign I had even been there! I am currently freelancing/focusing my time on writing projects so I often have a flexible schedule....and love taking work breaks with furry friends! A veteran 5-start pet-sitter, I am new to Rover and am figuring out how the calendar and geography works so it can reflect where I am and when I'm available. Most folks comment that they can barely tell I've been there. Cleanliness, respect, and loving care are my hallmarks. I make sure to honor any requests and instructions for people's homes, which often have quirks and special needs -- and to of course respect privacy too, just as I would as a social worker. As for furry friends, they get exceptional, reliable, patient, playful, caring energy from me while I make sure that all their food, litter, or other needs are met.

“Kate has a very warm demeanor and my first impression when I brought our dog Astrid over to her house for a meet and greet before boarding, was that she would care for our dog as if she were her own. Astrid is usually quite anxious when she’s first introduced to a new person and a new environment, but she appeared to be more at ease much quicker with Kate at her house than she typically is. Kate sent us regular pictures and updates, was very flexible about our schedule for pickup and drop-off, prompt and easy to communicate with, and we didn’t worry about Astrid at all. We will certainly reach out to Kate again when planning future boarding accommodations for our sweet Astrid.”

About: I’ve worked in animal welfare for 20 years and have experience with every size, breed and need! I’m comfortable administering medication and most importantly, I love animals so much that I’ve dedicated my life to them :). I work full time from home. I have flexible hours and usually go on several walks around my neighborhood a day. The longest I’d be away from home ranges from 2-4 hours and that can be adjusted based on your pets’ needs. I have a fenced yard and lots of love to give! There’s plenty of space in my house for crate(s) and I also welcome dog snuggles if they are allowed to sleep in the bed. I don’t have any other pets in the home but have lots of friends with dogs if yours likes the company.
