About: I have been a dog owner my entire life and I am entirely qualified to take care of any particular dog's needs. I love giving a pooch plenty of attention and am always making sure they are happy. Whether lounging around is your dog's favorite thing to do or go for a walk in the park, I always cater to a dog's needs. I have house-sat family friends' dogs before and am very comfortable with all other dogs. I am experienced sitting senior dogs and dogs that require extra care. Your dog will be happy with me, and I would be more than happy to take care of your furry friend. I will take him/her on 3+ walks if need be and I only leave for exercise & errands. If I leave for leisure, your dog won’t be left alone for a long period of time. Your dog will stay with me in my spacious apartment with plenty of spots to lounge and explore. About: I have been an animal lover since I was 4 years old when my parents got our first dog. When I was 8 an Uncle and Aunt introduced me to their pair of Rhodesian Ridgebacks they brought back from their stay in South Africa, and then the two had 8 puppies, and I still remember how comfortable I felt being amongst 10 Ridgebacks all my height or taller in a huge back yard! They were all gentle giants. I grew up in the tropics, so being around animals was something that was always around me and prepared me to encounter all kinds of wild animals on a daily basis. In college I’missed being around animals, so I pet sat for my professors and volunteered at the local humane societies to dog walk, bathe and clean cages. After that I became a zookeeper for a year, and it was an enlightening experience to say the least. I’ve walked dogs and cat sat on and off for folks on Craigslist and for friends and neighbors for over 20 years in Brooklyn. I walked my neighbor’s 95 lb yellow Labrador for 5 years since the pandemic until they sadly moved upstate. I teach college courses on human-animal relationships and ecology, but still manage to keep my schedule available during the academic school year for my fellow furry companions. I have a very flexible schedule till mid August after that I return to my academic semester schedule when I’m able to walk or give your dog a potty break or walk between 12:30 and 3:00pm and after 7:30pm M-F. Additionally with some planning ahead, I could be available on Fridays through the weekends when needed. I live in a small studio apt on the 4th floor of a Brown Stone walk-up, the house of my elderly landlords. So hosting a dog that is sensitive to noises outside the apartment and barks a lot won’t work. That said, I don’t have access to the back yard. but I can give your dog regular relief and exercise at Fort Greene Park every at least 3 times a day.
